The latest victim of the street racing law

Carl - was this you? From the Toronto Sun:

GODERICH, Ont. Its likely a first under Ontarios new street-racing legislation.

A provincial police officer pulled over a fast-moving vehicle on Wednesday just east of Goderich near Lake Huron.

It was a garbage truck and it was caught on radar doing 112 km/hr in a 60-kilometre zone.

The 58-year old driver from Clinton, northwest of Stratford, was charged with racing and with failing to inspect a commercial motor vehicle.

The garbage truck has been impounded for seven days and the driver has lost his licence for a week as well.

He will appear in a Goderich court on June 5 to answer to the charges and faces a possible fine of $2,000.

Can't they crush those racing vehicles? It would be sort of ironic to crush a garbage packer wouldn't it?

It's crazy here in town. OPP everywhere-speed traps, seatbelt checks etc etc. With gas at 121.9 today it makes me wonder if I even want to take the Laurentian out this summer! My Laurentian is missing it's shoulder belt buckles. I better find a pair (in med green) or I'll get pulled over constantly. Also, did you hear they expect gas to be $2.25/litre by 2012? It's a scam

I AGREE!   Its not racing! Two garbage trucks side by side.Thats RACING!! Two big block Pontiacs, side by side,in Clinton, thats RACING!  I am 59 ,so it cant be me that was in the truck...Imagine going 112km   thats almost 68 mph!!  I think this Racing name is BS.. Actually,I am surprised that the truck would go that fast!    two tuner cars in traffic on 401,weaving in and out at high speed, thats RACING       C2

I did 205kph in my friend Lori's crossfire today. Top down! Not a big deal really.... It just feels good to hammer it every now and then. You just have to. The trick is to choose your spot wisely. I was the only car present, in my books that's "Testing" not racing.
I bet every garbage truck driver feels that "urge" now and then. Only the true hard core rebels break out and go for it. Damm!...You're not human if you don't.
We should support this guy.

God I hope the speed gestapo don't read this!weirdface

I only test my car, behind the old CFB Clinton airbase.. The car  tops out at 165 km in 2nd gear anyway.. Always test ,while church is going on, and roads bare..   We limit burn out to the first 7-8 hundred feet... We are safety first people..biggrin
