RE: F41

Chassis design on the US Pontiacs is completely different, so the bars will not fit. Perhaps not all wagons had the big bar. Maybe it was only if they had F40 suspension. I think more Canadian cars must have had F40. I know all of the full size Chev & Pontiac sedans that I pulled big bars from were predominantly Biscayne/BelAir/Strato Chief/Laurentians (at least one was a 250 6 cyl), and most all of thise cars were 12 bolts. But I also had a pair of 66 Bel Air 2 dr posts with 283/PG (one with a 12 bolt posi) & they each had a small front bar. And like I said earlier, my 69 Caprice 396/T400/12 bolt/disc brake car had a small bar and really soft springs. So it is very confusing.

The 69 4 door hardtop 396 car pictured had a small bar. I forgot to mention that. Like you said, it makes no sense at all.

I apologize for not updating my information on this subject. One of the members contacted me and offered me an original F41 bar at a reasonable price together with the original brackets. I accepted and the bar was shipped to me. As ususal I haven't installed it however I did line it up and its perfect. The individual I dealt with was absolutely on the up and up, shipped it when he said he would and his description of the item was exact, however I wasn't sure whether he would want his name mentioned hence I have excluded same. Thanks to him very much as he has saved me from a very tough search. Doug.

Doug thanks for the kind words, I'm glad your happy and if there is anything else you will need for your car let me know and I will do my best to help you out. You can mention my name anytime. Doug do you know if your car has its original shocks??? I'm curious to see if your car has the rare F41 Delco Pliacell shocks?? I checked my 67 427 Biscayne shocks and they are the original pliacells. Your car sounds great doug, would love to see some pics of it. Andrew.

You can't be talking about that '66 in Uxbridge are you?.
I saw the 12 bolt and know I was stupid to walk at only $600 for the whole car...probably still there if anyone's into it?.

One of the '68's there had a 12 Bolt too...I think it was the one w/ the worse body though?.

The guy told me he had a '67 there which was bs and I went hoping for a hood...still need one if anyone has a good one..

He told me $600 each, two cars for a G-note or less for more..

I think the cars were all from one of Fawcett's sales?.

I remembered this thread from earlier this year. Does anyone know if this Strato Chief is still being restored, or what has happened? I would love to see some pics of it. That has to be one of the most unusual Canadian Pontiacs I ever heard of.

I see 427Strato has not logged in for some time now.

Pontoquer: I acquired an F41 bar from Manitoba however if the one you mentioned was including both bars and the springs it would be a great deal, in fact I will call because I would love to have an extra set. Thanks for your help, Doug.

Doug

You are aware you can still buy the rear bar brand new from GM? At least you still could a short time ago. I will try to remember to look it up tomorrow.

If you need another front bar, there is a good chance I can pick one up in about 10 days.

I bought 3 REAR sway barsfor my cars back in March of '06 when I was still on the floor in the dealer. Checked this morning. Woodstock still has 3, plus other U.S facilities. GM #394926 at a list price of $231.50.

You do know it's the same bar as an A body, right?

You guys....Go to any GM dealer and ask for a deal and I am sure they will sharpen their pencil. Full list, what I quoted, is $231 and what Carl quoted is trade price at $185!! Just grab 'em and shake 'em a little....I am sure they will fall within those 2 prices............John, just drop into Terra Nova or Hickmans to to pitch one against the other the best deal!!!!

Hey, I've been grabbed and shaken too many times already!!

Good advice, there must be some way to get trade price out of your local dealer.

Well, we all look for a deal and anyone who has worked for the system in any dealer is aware of the markup that applies....Why pay list, retail, if we can get a few bucks off here and there!!!!
And yes, anyone whom has delt with the "general" public in a dealership, is quite aware of the ker-fluffle that will shake anyone in their boots from time to time. Sorry Carl, I know how you feel......!

OK, this thread is so long now I have gotten confused.  Which one is still available for $185, the front bar or the rear one?  And what is the part number for it?  I would also like to get the opposite bar, does anyone have a source and part number?  Is it still available from GM as well?
