im getting no spark so i was going to change the ignition coil but is there a way to test the coil seperatly to make sure. I would love to keep the original one cause all the new ones are red, black or way too shiny chrome.
Have you confirmed you have voltage to the positive side?
Have you pulled the coil wire out of the center of the distributor cap just a little bit and cranked over to check for spark there? That way you would know if you have spark past the coil or not.

If his is like my 65 Acadian, it's like it has a dull aluminum finish on the outside of it, and the top is black like on any other coil.
Is it one of those Trevor?
I read somewhere, (maybe it was here) that the Canadian cars are unique in that area as well. Supposedly the US cars had black coils.
I also noticed the other night that my coil has the production date stamped into the outer cover. I think it was 5D3 which I would think is 1965, April 3rd.

yeah, it has the dull alluminium surface and black cap. I will try takin the centre wire out and check that first. I just pulled one from the block and put a plug on it and looked for spark there. I was thinkin on putting my distributor from my 1979 305 on there but i could see that being more trouble and then it wouldent look original anymore. thanks guys
