yeah, the car fired up today, it was weird!! I went to go pull the wire from the dis. to the coil (to see if there was any spark) and while i was hooking up the push- button start on the starter nothing was happening and them i had a brain fart and remembered i dident put the key in the ignition yet. So, when i got in the car and put the key in i thought i would crank it and see if everything was hooked back up properly and BOOM! fired right up but ran pretty rough so i turned the dist. a bit and she (i'd say purrs but it just headers) ran good. I dont know if there was just not enough juice in the battery before or what but its runnin. It still needs the exaust and the seats put back in and then my brother will safety it for me.
The 283 turbo-fire sticker was just the ones that nos in komoka had one day when I stopped in to grab my carpet. I dont know much about the 283 and or when they called them astro-jet. I am going to the canadian tire show on sunday so i will look for the 69 and you might be able to pick me out the crowd as i have a octopuss tattoo on one calf muscle and flames on my other leg, black glasses and facial hair.
I think the 283 2bbl was referred to Strato-Flash in 1959, the 283 4bbl was Super Strato-Flash. The 261 was the Strato-6. The 348 and 409 carried "Flame" in their names. The 59 348 4bbl was Astro-Flame while the 348 3x2bbl was Super Astro-Flame.
Various small blocks 283 and 327 were also called Astro-Flame right up through 1967. The with the introduction of the 350 sbc the names changed to Astro-Flash. Big blocks from 1966 on were Astro-Jet.
took it for a drive around the block a couple times today, cant hear anymore cause the headers but damn thats fun!! Sitting on a tire going down the street and haveing my neighbours give me the thumbs up is nice. Cant wait to get it all dialed in and see how it runs. Anybody want to come help??

And thanks for the kind words about my car guys, its just killing me not having it on the road yet though, but my wife said her pool comes first so i have to listen to the boss!!
I know what it's like not having the car on the road yet. It's taken so long for me to get mine on the road I'm starting to think I should have put bias ply SNOW tires on instead of the redlines!
yeah, i have a set of all season thin whitwalls for the car, they were on it when i got it, wall-mart specials but brand new so i am going to get some steel rims for my pt cruiser and put them on that since i still have my winter ones on!!
