Anyone with a 66 Beaumont with a rear defroster?

I posted this in full size also. I'd like to see a picture of the switch and knob from a 66.

Thanks.

Thanks, but no. I need to see 66. The 67 has the switch hanging under the dash pad and I need to know if 66 is the same or if the switch is down under the lower part of the dash.

I pretty much have my answer now I think.

It seems that it must be 66 or older, and not from any Canadian Pontiac or Beaumont with a factory defogger. It appears that the accessory defoggers used the underdash switch, the factory installations used the switch that hangs under the dash pad.

This unit is likely right for Buicks and Chevys 67 or older I'd say.

Thanks to 68SD396RAG who called me about it this morning to give me the Beaumont info. ..

Hey carl,   if you see me out in my 64 beaumont HT, i have a rear defogger with the underdash switch.  check it out.
I think it is such a cool accessory, that you just never see anymore!
I must admit, i too suffer from this "option" sickness you have.  ha ha!

What color is your 64 Dave?

Optionitis is a fun disease!!! Not curable though...

Does it look like the pic that 67BBSD posted? My switch looks nothing like that.

looks nothing like that one.  Mine is under dash.  a small hourglass shaped knob.  same knob used on 64 astro AC vents.  small switch with a resistor built in.  it is located near the park brake lever.
Only other style i've seen is the one that hangs under the dash pad like you described.

yup, that is the exact one i use in my 64.
looks like it is doing well on ebay.  i could use another one.
I use one in my winter beater, works like a charm.  even melts ice, dispite the fact all it does is blow air(not heat)

I have a complete assembly as well. I haven't tried it yet. It has the same switch. It's a wrecking yard special, but the windows were all up in the car, so I expect it will be ok. I will have to test it.

I sold a 68 switch on ebay a couple of years ago. Same switch but it has a round knob to match the dash knobs. It went over 100 bucks!!! The guy emailed me thanking me over and over. He said he had been looking for that switch for about 2 years!

My 66 has the factory defogger switch. I can confirm it does look like the hourglass shaped knob, and is located under the dash by the park brake. My blower assembly has packed it in. If anyone has a spare or a source for one please let me know.

Thanks,
Darren

Any pictures.  I know the one you are talking about.  That is cool that it was located under dash.  Must have changed in 1967 to the one hanging overhead.
I have one in my 64.
I think i have an extra, will have to check.. not sure how good it would be.

Those things are surprisingly hard to find.  Especially the switches

I will try to check later tonight (after dark, work to do outside right away) because I may just have one for you too.

I will let Dave go first and see if he has one. If not it looks like I do. I would need to see a picture of the motor on the blower unit as I've seen two different styles there. One is much smaller than the other.
