Bump back to the top... anybody know the difinitive answer? Will a 4-door frame bolt up to a 2-door body?

This is from a photocopied Chev manual that came with my GM canada documents.

As soon as its warm enough I'm going to chuck a 4 door body away and compare the frame with mine to see if theres any difference.

I would say yes and no!  Yes the frames would be the same, however the four door models may have 2 or 4 more body mounts(I'd say 2)!  The bodies would sit on the chassis perfectly except you may have a couple of extra frame to body mounts not in use if you mounted a 2 door on a 4 door frame.  Think about it for a minute, would GM rather build 50 million frames(exageration) all the same/similar or build a different frame for every body style, the re-tooling would have bankrupted them alot sooner if they did.  I built a 57 Chev 150 two door sedan on a 57 Chev 210 four door frame.  I would say GM probably had 3 frames in 1960 that were very similar but not the same.  (One) would be a convertable frame(no metal roof, stronger frame)................(The second) would be for the 2 and 4 door Sedans and Hardtops........And the third would be for the station wagon.......buuuutttt I may be wrong on the station wagon.  I'm thinking the wagon is longer and maybe a different section of frame behind the differential.  Gas tank mounting, spare tire area etc!  As we say in Alberta..........Just Giver!!! 

yes the frames are all the same  size
2 dr 4 dr with 10 body mounting points
and convertibles have 12 body mounting points same frame

Frames are essentially the same, and in that year both the sedan and the wagon had the same wheelbase.
