Where is the ground?

I was working under dash area of 66 Pontiac, and noticed my gas guage is reading upside down ( again) and if I move the steering column, the interior lights and underdash guages, flicker and get dimmer or brighter, depending on which way I move column.. There doesnt seem to be a ground strap anywhere on car..   thanks!!  Carl    Pictures would help lol

I think you should tighten down the column to complete the ground.

I used to do that as well,  but my blood pressure kept running at  165/110  so I quit  loll    thanks   . I just tightened up column, and it still affects the interior light and guages, when I move the selector    going to try to find a proper place to put a ground...........

On the El C late at night I used to see sparks from the instrument cluster to the dash. I tightened the screws holding it in place. They went away and made the dash lights brighter.

I soldered a wire from the actual metal circuit board that I was going to connect to a ground source. After tightening everything up I don't feel the need.

I got my cluster installed last night, plugged it all in and ...the fuel gauge red only a 1/4 tank. I pressed the harness in a bit harder and it all worked. It's these little things that can make you nuts!
