It's also an NOS clock, but anyone notice how the lettering is much more yellowed than the speedo? Is that normal? I'm hoping I don't have a 1970 (black) clock in there. Hard to tell from the photo...
Boy, that is a beautiful piece. I hate to think what you have invested in that. At any rate, that is one of the first things I look at when I look in cars at a car show, just to see options, mileage etc.
Nice work!

Dave is that a 70 cluster? That's what I put in my Laurentian. The face on the 70 is darker than the 69. Your dash looks fantastic! I put a tach in the clock location by using a 68 Nova tach face, scanning it and the photoshopping it the correct size. If you look close enough at it you can tell it's not a factory tach, but looking at it from a bystanders point of view (cruise night) it doesn't look too bad!
Just for interests sake, is the insert for the shift indicator 4 speed only, or any floor shift car? I am assuming any floor shift because the indicator is in the console.
Also, is US the same as Canadian Pontiac?

PS: Anyone know what the idiot light on the lower left of the rally cluster is for? Headlights perhaps? Seatbelts?
Seatbelt lights didn't arrive until 1972. Is there any print when you shine a light through from the back?
No, my 69 originally had a seat belt light and headlight warning. The seat belt light was just a reminder that timed out after a few seconds of igniton on, actually based on the heat of the bulb or something weird.

I like the tach install, that's cool. To answer your question, though, I'm using a '69 speedo, which has the blue face. I have a 1970 with the black face as well, sitting on a shelf somewhere, which I grabbed in case I couldn't find a '69.
The first '69 rally set I found I took apart. I went to wipe the dust off the speedo face and the lettering all came off.... I almost cried! It's a weird paint they used and must degrade after time.
No, but I could ask Musclecar Restorations if they could do others. I doubt they're cheap, but then again we have few options it appears.
Note that the letters don't get cut out entirely because of the way the process works (sort of like a stencil). I think that's the biggest difference from original, and the font is probably a little off.
