yeah, nice find! That 69' i think it was is still in sombra for sale.I think he wanted 10 grand or something stupid like that for a car thats maybe worth 2-3 maybe. It was a 350 car though i think and it is a convertible but needs way too much body work...its bondo city on that car.

Can we confirm that 59poncho's post is indeed the same car. If so is this car wearing 427 badges with a 350 under the hood? Not like that hasn't been done before eh? wink

This is a real 427 car. If it isn't the orig paint (good eye Dave) it is at least the correct colour. Barry saw the car originally in 1971. The owner's wife is somehow related to him. He doesn't really want to sell but his wife would like it gone. Barry was disappointed with the condition of the car as he hadn't seen it for over 20 years. At that point it was still nice and figured the owner had preserved it. The car hasn't been advertised and Barry is the only one told that it might be for sale.

anyone know what color the 551 code is?
appears to be an original turq car from the looks of the underhood parts of the fenders.

That is a single exhaust system from the factory. Good for about 390 with a good dual system.

I've been told by my friend that he is not interested in buying it and wants to know if I am interested. I'm waiting on a price but suspect it would be out of my league. Would it be worth sacrificing my Laurentian to restore it? Seriously.

I'd say no Todd.

Do you mean sell the Laurentian, or part it?
Todd, your car has an interest all it's own, and unmolested as it stands is, pretty rare in itself. How many have you seen anyway? Your car is a time capsule.

No, unless you can get the rag for a song, stay away. You'd spend huge to bring it back. Believe me, I know.

Oh yea, almost forgot...What's the phone number anyway?

The cam on the 390 horse is different too. I've owned both versions and you can "hear" the 390 horse cam.

Not in my opinion. At least not right away. You have a nice car already. Maybe he will say $1000, then you could grab it. It can sit in your garage until you are ready just as well as his. It is a car we would all like to see restored.

In small print on Pontiac sales brochures there is a note. Add 15% with optional dual exhausts. So 335 x 1.15 = 385.25 HP. Ooops I missed by 4.75 HP! biggrin

As stated by others, I wouldn't rush to give up your car Todd. You have a very cool car there.

You would need a whack of time and a wad of cash to do that car...

I'm with the crowd.  If you can get it for a good "project price" ( and only you can determine how much that is for you ) and have room to store it somewhere until you someday have time to restore it, then grab it.  You know what is going to happen if one of us Canadian Poncho enthusiasts doesn't buy it, it's going to get parted for the big block powertrain, 12 bolt, etc. and then go the crusher.  Although it may take a while, it may also prove to be a good investment if  you want to flip it one day.  That 68 427 GP in PEI and the 69 427 4 spd 2 + 2 in Simcoe both eventually sold, and I'm sure both ended up going for a lot more than a $1,000.  Whatever you do, don't sacrifice your Laurentian, a running driving car that you can enjoy right now and for many years to come while you are figuring out what to do with the convertible.

I bet it will take at least 9K to get that car. It's probably seriously rare, and the owner likely knows that. But because of it's rarity, it could fly the coop to overseas like the Gold 427 2+2 did.

It would be a easier go for me, as I'm about half way there, and have most all the nos trim to finish it, but a spare 10k or so just ain't in the cards right now.

Let's all do a fractional ownership and store it at Todd place!!!

I have said this before but maybe it is something to seriously consider. We need to incorporate a Not-for-Profit corporation without share capital, appoint a board of Directors and start fundraisng. There can be no doubt that cars like this are cultural and historical Canadian assets. We would even qualify for property tax rebates if we bought a garage and possibly some cultural grants as well.

This is how the HMCS Haida was done CLICK as well as the the Replica Avro Arrow under the auspicies of the Aviation Museum. CLICK

I don't want to volunteer anybody but I can tell you that we have the necessary professional experience on this board to set up the corporation.
