Although I have a few diecasts and HotWheels, I'm not much for them overall but have a large collection of over a hundred vintage 30's/40's/50's pressed steel and cast/molded toys.. Lots of Marx, Lincoln and other similar trucks etc...too many but never enough!.

BTW, the green hornets were out on my street Friday night as well. Everyone got a ticket. Nothing Sat. or last night though so maybe they reached their quota or decided to harass some other law abiding citizens....

I got a plan, I'm widening my driveway by 4 to 5 feet and then I'll park two abreast. I can't take credit for the idea, It was Mary's brainwave! Have a contractor coming for estimate later this week. Some malicious neighbourhood degenerate costs me Hundred's of dollars, better than playing cat and mouse with Miller's revenue collection boys masquerading as parking control officers though.
I did that many years ago, I'm way ahead of you, but as you know, mine is already filled with cars! Just a word of warning, you are supposed to get pre-approval for that from the city. Mine is so old that it is grandfathered now but I hear the city councillors are really cracking down on this particularly in the southern end of the wards. One of Comrade Miller's main lieutenants, deputy Comrade "Easter Bunny Bussin" has said she isn't going to approve any more - people don't need any more cars! Worse case scenario, they will either force you to put planters on the widened part so you can't use it or force you to get a parking permit for your own property!

I know Hillar so I'm not going to widen the entrance, just move my fence. Rememeber my layout, it will be at the rear and all on my property.
I've stopped buying the toy cars. I realized that i wanted the real thing and if i do i better start saving some money...don't ask how that's been working out*L*
I do have some 1/18ths, hot wheels, a few of those Corgis from the early 70's still in boxes. It's incredible what some of the old stuff is worth. My big spending downfall though, was books and mags, i have a huge collection, at least my wife says i do. I've put a moritorium on my book buying. Again, to save for car stuff, and again...don't ask how that's working out*L*
I bought another dozen or so old mags at a swap meet yesterday. If there is one article that's looks interesting, I'm sucked in.
Yesterday' scores were some Track and Traffic, (our Canadian entry in the field) that I didn't have and some choice issues of Car Life which I think was the best car mag of the 60's. One of these days I'm going to have to actually start sorting and cataloging what I've got instead of just tossing them into piles in the spare bedroom. I keep rationalizing these purchases by saying one day when I retire I'm going to become an "automotive journalist" and I'll need all this stuff for my "research library". Of course all the diecasts are going to end up lining the walls for "atmosphere" so I don't know where I am going to end up putting the bookshelves!

We have 3 bookshelves that are full, not all with car books/mags mind you, but they do take up at least one whole case. I was given a lot of issues of Autosport from the late 70's. I've got a lot of hardcover books. Also mixed in there are issues of Road and Track from the 50's to current. A run of Car and Driver from the 90's, along with some older issues. A small group of 60's Hot Rod. I went to a big flea market/yard sale a couple years ago and got a race weekend program for Sebring for sometime in 1958...for just 25 cents. I too find articles i like, or pics that i'd like to use as "inspiration" for doing some artwork. I don't think i would ever get the money back that i've spent on them so i do believe i'll be keeping them all for a while.
I will buy 'lots' of 50 old magazines for $40 if anyone is interested. I don't care what they are as long as they are auto related. Condition of covers not important but inside pages must be reasonable.
is the era important? I have a laundry tub full of them in the garage. I need the space!
