A buddy of mine use to take his belts, not the retractors of course, to the local laundrymat late at night and toss them in with a good detergent. They use to come out spotless---Mind you, the same couldn't necessarily be said about the washing machines!!!!! Or use an old one you don't care about???

I've used dish soap before...in combination with a pressure washer if necessary!.

I run them through the dishwasher snd they come out cleaner. Might need more than one cycle and for sure need the missus away while this activity is undertaken.

I just use the regular upholstery shampoo that you would use on the seats.

thanks guys.
i figured to scrub them with soap and then power wash them. was worried the pressure from the power washer might damage the webbing.

Yes, I've been told to stay away with the pressure washer.

I like to learn from other's mistakes too.

As above, use the pressure washer if necessary..
I've had great luck removing grease, gum, tar etc. using them w/ dish soap...just if you do need to use one, nobody said hold the wand against the webbing...back the frig up!.

I used Spray Nine and a fine scrub/nail brush on mine. That worked good and didn't affect the clor at all. Mine you the faded ones were still faded.smile

I use the dishwasher.  But first i scrub out any bad stains with soap/garden hose.

Just be sure to take them out BEFORE the drying cycle. It will bake and dry the plastic buckles.

I take them out just after the rinse cycle, then hang them from the garage ceiling so they dry nice and straight...Wrinkle free every Time!

Never had any luck fabric dying, it seems to just soak right in.. Also the paint makes them rough and hard feeling.

I also use the dishwasher to do a final cleaning of my Carburetor castings befor rebuilds.
Dishwasher also works great for dog dishes(and i dont mean the pet food ones).

I know that I just wait for the missus to be away for a couple of hours before I use the dishwasher. Just think of the grease and crud that normally runs through it. She doesn't know, hasen't complained and if there's a problem I will have to deal with it anyways.

Nope, carbs do make it stink for a few cycles, but it goes away.  Seatbelts, hubcaps are no problem, probably cleaner than the dishes that go through it

I have to let my wife read these replies. I get "the look" evileye.gif when I have any parts in the house. Sometimes I have a hard time getting myself in the house.

On the topic of dishwashers, I have found that they are the ONLY way to get wire wheel covers sparkling clean. wink.gif

I'm telling you guys, you have to take the upper hand in this "parts in the house, using the dishwasher", etc.

By the way, I'll be right back. I have to go check with my wife if it's ok if I bring a a hubcap into the house to clean it...........................
