I am restoring a 62 Laurentian and am in need of some parts. I got the history of the car from GM but they can't tell me what other model parts will fit. It needs a new steering wheel and reverse lights, also red leather front seats. I don't know for sure if they had buckets or bench. Is there anyone who knows the answer? I have replaced most of the interior so far and am getting ready to have the body work done. I also need chrome and the Laurentian name plate for both sides. This is the first time on this site and it looks great. Thanks for the help.Murphy
I'm pretty sure a bench seat would be standard and likely the only seat available in 62. I would also assume your upholstery would be the same as a 62 Chevy Bel Air. Can anyone confirm? Correct seat material may be available from SMS in the U.S (for a Bel Air). Door panels may also be Bel Air. Does anyone have access to a 62 Canadian Pontiac brochure?

Is your car a 2 dr HT Laurentian? I looked at a real neat fawn 2 dr HT car in the city of Barrie in 2001. It wouldn't be that car would it - 283 PG? Or another black on red one, also in the city of Barrie back in 2005?
It is my understanding that the 62 Parisienne could be had with bucket seats (I've seen two convertibles with them) but the Laurentian had a bench seat.
The Canadian interiors are a mish mash of US Pontiac and Canadian Chevrolet parts. I have a 62 Parisienne with a mint original interior and it does not have the comparable Impala seat and door panel material, but rather the interior fabrics come from the US Pontiac line. But I'm pretty sure the steering wheel is Impala with a Pontiac horn cap, as it is a solid color and the Pontiac typically had a clear section in the wheel.
In the lower line cars like Strato Chief and Laurentian, there appears to be more comparability and sharing of materials. For example in 63 & 64, the Strato Chief & Laurentian carry the same seat cover material as the Biscayne & Bel Air respectively.
Best thing to do is look up a catalogue from one of the full size Chev suppliers like CARS INC. and see if the 62 Bel Air seat material is similar to yours. I suspect it is, as Todd suggests. Steering wheel from a Chev should work, just swap the horn ring. I know for sure that this is the only difference in the steering wheels on the 63 & 64 Chevs & Pontiacs as I have wheels from both cars in both years.
Reverse light will be very hard to find. 62 & 63 US and Canadian cars use the same ones, but I have been looking for a good set for 6 years and have yet to find any. The ones you do find tend to be badly pitted and defaced.
Welcome Murphy, there is a fellow in Orillia that does steering wheel restoration.I had a wheel that he restored and he does excellent work! Price was around $120 plus shipping, I think he has an ad in Old Auto's. I had a real nice maroon 61 Parisienne bubble top back in the early seventies and we swapped in the interior from a 64 Impala SS, buckets, console, rear seat fit great only giveaway was the Impala reverb in the middle of the rear seat (wished I still had that one)! I always liked my early Pontiacs 'cause they had 2 ashtrays in the dash (smoked a pack a day then, none since 1978). ARCADIAN Chris
Yes mine is a 2dr h/t but it is white with red interior. I'm not sure if it is vinyl or leather. It had bucket seats when I bought it but I was told they were replacements. The back seat is red so I'm sure I have to look for a bench seat that is vinyl unless there are covers in that style. This is the first car I have done, and it is turning into quite a job. I have almost everything ready to replace the interior, but won't put it together until the engine (261) and transmission are rebuilt this winter. I will post pics in a few days. Murphy
