These are pretty good cars, with the possible exception of the auto trans, but I'm guessing it's got a later T400 trans, in which case it should be pretty reliable. They have full perimeter frame, & four link rear suspension, same as adopted by all full size GM lines including Chevy after 1970. Really good handling cars even with bias plies back when I owned the closest cousin, a 63 Grand Prix. Ont thing that doesn't appeal to me on the 61-64 Bonneville US cars is the long rear deck. That's where they added the extra 3 inches of wheel base and to me it makes the proportions of the car look wrong as compared to a Parisienne, Catalina or Grand Prix. But that's just a matter of personal taste.
That car has been for sale for quite a while. I don't think because there's anything wrong with it. Price might be why. It looks like a good car. Member "Slinky" isn't too far from Norwich. He may know the car. Slink?
the car has been for sale forever @ I think $10,500, sounds fair-not the most mainstream car but great entry. the frames rot, the floor supports and trunk pans rot, rockers, fender heals, lower rear quarters-this one looks good-same like GP. I'll give him my survivor 83 TA for it
Can someone please post the wheel base of the Canadian cars and the various US cars in the period 61-64? Overall length too?
Here is the information I have on the 62-64 Pontiac full size US & Cdn. It comes from factory US & Canadian Pontiac chassis manuals and US & Canadian sales brochures. I don't have a US factory brochures for 61, so I won't quote data. I know that WB was same as for 62 models however.
1962 US Bonneville (28 series except wagon) & Star Chief (26 series): WB 123"; Overall length - 218.6"; Catalina (series 23) and Grand Prix (series 29); WB 120"; overall length - 211.6". All Wagons - Bonneville and Catalina series 27 & 23: WB 119"; overall length 212.3" Canadian 7000 series. WB - 119.0"; overall length - 211.6" exc wagon 212.3"
1963 US WB same in 63 as 62 for all models noted for 62. Overall length Bonneville and Star Chief except wagon: 218.9"; Catalina & Grand Prix: 211.9"; Catalina & Bonneville wagons: 212.8" Canadian 7000 series. WB 119"; overall length 212.0" exc wagon 212.5"
1964 US WB same in 64 as in 62 & 63 for all models. Overall length Bonneville & Star Chief exc wagon: 220.0"; Catalina & Grand Prix: 213.0"; Catalina & Bonneville wagons: 213.8" Canadian - no factory info 7000 series: no GM Canadian data
Wow, that's a lot of info right there, thanks for taking the time to do that. I always had it in my mind that Bonnevilles were about 6" longer so I guess I was close.

I agree, having grown up with Canadian Pontiacs, I have also found Bonnevilles, especially the 2 doors to be totally out of proportion. As to value, I would say $10K would be generous. As Ken said, this car has been for sale forever and just does not have a lot of appeal to a lot of people, much like our Canadian Pontiacs. Not sure what your buddy has to trade but if this floats his boat, go for it, just remember if he doesn't like it and wants to sell, it will probably take him forever as well, might have to drop the price down to the $7-8K range to move it. Sorry that hurts, but that is reality.
