Here's a perfect example that you don't have to have a high dollar Canadian Poncho to enjoy the hobby. Matthias (Patty58) hails from Germany but owns the perfect car for tooling around when he vacations in Nova Scotia- a 1958 Pontiac Pathfinder four door sedan. Here's a little information on the Pathfinder in Matthias own words:
"I bought the car in July 2006 at the car show in New Brunswick ( Atlantic Nationals )from the second owner.
First owner bought the car new in Nova Scotia , Truro area and was sold in the 80´s to an older couple in Moncton , NB.
The car was sitting far away from the show, dirty ugly and ignored from the crowd.
For me , it was a diamond in the rough , love at the first sight.
Just a phone number , written with lipstick on the window shows me : IT`S FOR SALE !!
I called the guy , he showed up after 30 minutes . After a quick check on the gravel, my wife and me had decided to buy the car.
I drove the car back home to Nova Scotia ( approx. 700 KM ) without insurance , plate and any hassle.
Thanks god , we arrived save and sound. And i was surprised how easy on gas the car was.
Next day i started to check the brakes, axels and muffler, changed all vital fluids, set timing and so on.
With lots of elbow grease and Mothers Polish , it turned out like you can see on the pic´s.
That´s all I can tell you about the car , because I only use the car in my vacations , when i´m overthere in Nova Scotia.
We enjoy every second driving with the old Lady .

Thank you very very much and Greetings from icecold Germany ( -20°C at the moment )
Nice looking car Matthais. It's very rare to find an original Nova Scotia car that is so old. The salt water surrounding, and the salt on the roads rusted most of them away before the '70's where over.
Congratulations, enjoy your one month of "canadianponcho" fame. It is nice to see the interest in the 4 door ponchos gaining in interest. Your's looks like a very nice car.
atlantic nationals are my favorite car show. i'll be there again this year. last year there was over 1800 car and chip foose was the special guest. congrats on a fine old looking girl.
I got a soft spot for the 58 as I owned one back in the 70's it was a green four door with the chrome trim all around the window frames making it look like a hard top. But I got to say I like yours way better. Love the two tone colours. Were abouts in Germany do you live ? I used to live in Hemer on the edge of the Black Forest.
Your car is Excellent!!! I Owned a blue and white 58 2door sedan and loved it.

Very nice. In my opinion the 58 Pontiac is one of the few cars from the 50s that looks as good in 4 door sedan style as in any other body style (the others - I know, they are not Pontiacs - being the 57-58 Ford Fairlane and the 57 Olds 88).
thanks for all the compliments about my car. She looks better on pics as she really is...... Starts a bit rusting on the rockers and rear wheelwells the interiour colors are not original. I will repaint the car and fix everthing someday. I´m not in a hurry. Maybe i will ship the car to germany , because i could do all the work by myself , i have the right tools here. But not sure yet, the shipping back and forth is expensive, maybe i find a trustworthy bodyshop somewhere in my NS area.
It Makes me really proud to see my old car as the feature car. Many Thanks to Todd.
@ Steve : Yes i like the atlantic nationals too. I was there the last years unfortunately i will miss the show this year. I saw Chip Foose there , but man , what a long line of peoples !
@ Ian : I live close to Frankfurt , to you come over from time to time ?
@ Hillar : Sorry no pics from the engine yet. But overall , the enginebay looks good for 51 years old, still the factory green paint on it. I will have pics from the engine and from inside after my next vacation.
@ speelman : Sure , let me know if you are overthere
Again : Thank you all very much and please excuse my bad english....
