New Member and I need lots of Info and tips on restoration of my 64 Beaumont Acadian SD

What a great web site, so informative. I live in eastern Ontario and am 45 years old. I purchased my 1964 Beaumont Acadian SD at age 15 (1979) I was washing cars at a local GM dealership in those days, and along came this car one day on the back of tow truck. It had Alberta plates on it and it had been involved in a minor collision. Long story made short I ended up buying the car from the vacationing owner who needed to get back home right away.

The next two years were spent on restoring the car (on a small teenage budget)
Since the front end had the accident damage I was only able (at the time) to find a 65 chevelle front end clip which I put on before I had the car painted. I also had the Original 283 v8 rebuilt, and replaced the 2 speed powerglide with a 400 series 3 speed auto. The car had a possi rear end so that was fine. I drove the car for 5 or 6 summer seasons and had a blast. In 1986 I put the car into  long term storage(life go in the way) and other than starting it a couple times a year it remains there today.

I intend to again restore this car 30 years later but I want to convert the front end back to original Beaumont 1964 front end.

Questions,

Will I be able to use any of the existing chevelle  fron fenders, hood ? to host the beaumonte grill etc?

Are the fron bumpers the same, chevelle vs Beaumonte?

Is there any aftermarket vendors that supply Beaumonte fenders hoods bumpers etc.

Are there any members out there that have some used parts to offer for this project. I need a grill and trim etc. I will have clean chevelle parts available.

Please reply with any tips and suggestions, Jeff

Especially when our resident expert "beaumontguru" sees your post! He will be able to help you lots, as well as many, many other Beaumont guys.

A number of us have the Beaumont parts book from GM so that will help some as well.

Oh, and we love pictures of cars, projects, finished or whatever.

Wecome, I will have to check out what is left from my brothers 64 SD project. I know we have a good hood for sure, complete grille but not sure on the fenders . If we could work out a trade or I would buy yours as I need 65 parts. thanx

I know that a 65 Beaumont clip has some minor differences than a 65 chevelle. The front of the hood lip profile is different and the eye brow areas are drilled differently. The fenders will work on a 64 Chevelle but I think your stuck finding a 64 Beaumont hood though. On the 65 chevelle you can use a 65 chevelle on a Beaumont but not a Beaumont on a chevelle. The hood lip chrome from a chevelle won't fit the profile of a beaumont hood. The Beaumont lip chrome will hide the chevelle profiled hood just fine though. If your local I can bring some 64 Beaumont hood trim and see if it fits a 64Chevelle hood if thats what you find. The trim is not for sale but I am wondering because I need a 64 Beaumont clip also. I'm on Vancouver Island. Let me know.

**** Sorry I didn't read the post right. The clip won't work. The entire 64 clip is different.  The 65 bolts on nice though. The rad support is also different.

Welcome,

YOu will find that the 64 chevelle and 64 beaumont front clip sheet metal is all the same, Inner, fenders, hood, bumper, batt tray, etc.
One Exception is the bumper valence where the hood release is.  that is 64 beaumont only.
There may be some slight differences in the headlight buckets/radcraddle, but i think it is easily modified if needed.  Good reference photos should help identify any slight changes.

The 65 stuff is all different and wont work for you.  No 65 panels are same

64 chevelles use all diffferent trim than than 64 beaumont
grill, hood lip, fender eyebrows, hood latch, etc. is all 1964 beaumont only.

Park lenses should be clear insted of amber, same part tho.

68SD can tell you about teh blue SD HT that is in Jacksons autowrecker, id be all over that one if i was you.  (front clip)

Thanks for youtr reply. It's a long time ago that I did the front end clip swap and I need, and will get some up to date pics. My 64 is in off site storage and all I have at my house are some Old photo's from early 80s and I hope my wife can scan them to so I can post soon.

I agreee that there are more differences between Chevelle vs Beaumont grills and front end's but if I have a 1965 Chevelle front end (clip)  now on a 1964 Beaumont, can I then expect a 1965 Beaumont grill and trim will fit the fenders and hood. By what I have seen as pics. on the net. this might be possible?. Plese reply Jeff.

65 beaumont sheetmetal is basicly the same as 65 chevelle as long as 1965 parts are used excusivly on the entire front clip

If your car is a 64, i would try to track down 64 front clip stuff to keep it all 64.

Ditto. A car as rare as your's deserves to be original if at all possible. How often do you see one?

You should be able to sell the 65 Chevelle clip for about even money to get a '64 Beaumont clip. The Beaumont is harder to find, but more customers for the Chev. Besides the '64 Beaumont has the nicest grill of all of them.

Welcome to the site. Nice to hear stores like your where you didn't sell the car because of family and storage issues. You will be a happy man the day you start you project and even happier the fist day you put her back on the road

I saw an ad a little while ago for a 64 Beaumont front clip with everything including chrome, inner fenders, bumper and 2 1/2 grills for a $1000. It was in southern Alberta. PM for a phone number if interested.

As the others have already said " welcome aboard ".

I have some spare 64 Beaumomt SD pieces but would be reluctant to part with them until mine is finished. However, it wouldn't hurt to try.
I have most of the support literature for the 64 and am willing to help in anyway I can with pictures, part numbers etc. Just ask.
TeI'm in the Wasaga Beach area so not that far.
