I'd like your input fellas. I'm a hardcore Pontiac enthusiast and love the cars to be as original as possible but find myself wondering what I should do. I have both a '69 Parisienne convertible and a '69 Grande Parisienne hardtop. Obviously a '69 Grande Parisienne ragtop was never manufactured. This is where I wonder if a labotomy is required on my behalf or? What's the general opinion folks? Should I make a '69 Grande Parisienne ragtop out of the two or do them up separately? I'll never get rid of either one of these cars and they will be passed down to a family member no matter what I do or don't do with them. Thanks fellas.
I say do whatever you want. The GP grilles are nice. I think Mark (Cdnpont on here) is going to put those grilles on his 69 ragtop. I think it's safe to say that no one will question the legitimacy of your convertible if you convert it as so few people know what models of Canadian Pontiacs were made. Be sure to post pics of the transformation if you go ahead with it.
Thanks a million guys for your support and quick answers to my question. I just thought it would be neat to have the Grande interior, lower body chrome, different nosecone/grille and endura rear bumper put on the rag. I even have all the Grande Parisienne chrome insignias to finish it right off perfectly. It will be a work in progress this summer so will keep you posted. Thanks again. What an awesome website. And Todd, you're not far from me in Ingersoll. I live just outside of Stratford Ontario.
I saw a phantom 66 Grande Parisienne convetible in Edmonton some years back. Looked pretty good except it was painted orange. I don't know why they didn't actually offer GP's as convertibles as ragtops always sort of tended to be high end cars anyway. (or at least we never saw many around here in Northern Alberta.)
Reminds me of the AMT 3 in1 model kits we did as kids. I could never make it one of the 3 ways on the box, I always mixed and matched and came up with my own version. I always like the "What If' or 'One of None" customs.
Welcome to the site. I agree by saying do what you'd like to do...that's what i plan on doing with mine, have it look how i want it to. Nice to have someone from my old stomping grounds on here. I grew up in Stratford.
