Brought the Green & Gold 70 2+2 home yesterday

I've had it and the gold hardtop stored at a buddies place since last fall, and finally brought the green car home.  As usual, after connecting the battery it fired right up.  My basement reno is still occupying most of my time, but I've got some tinkering to do on the car this spring / summer.  It's now nestled in my garage beside the yellow convertible.  I'll see if I can post a few pictures this weekend.

Was busy today installing window wells around the enlarged window openings in the basement, and tomorrow I'm mixing and pouring cement where we broke up the concrete for a new basement bathroom.  Hopefully that is only a partial day, and I'll pull the green/gold hardtop and the yellow convertible out for some photo's.  The gold hardtop is still in storage.

Must be renovation season, I am changing the tiles, counter top and sink/faucet in my bathroom with my dad, who is here visiting from Quebec, we will also build a new front porch... Don't worry, I also got him to help me empty my Lemans gas tank. I am looking forward to see pics of your cars.

Thanks Clint for posting those photos and for showing us a 400 SBC. I really like this car. The painted roof and trim make it really unique.

Clint has done a great job making this old survivor look good.
I'm glad he's showing it off.

as anyone who's done it knows, fishing the spark plug wires for the front 4 cylinders through the engine mounts is a test of patience, but it's well worth the effort.  It looks so much better than having spark plug wires hanging all over the place.  Forgive me for the brown distributor cap, I bought it at a swap meet for $5 and it was brand new.  I figured I could use it sooner or later.

As indicated on another thread, the 1970 400 was only offered as a 265 hp 2 barrel.  I've upgraded to a 70 300hp 350 7040202 carb, and 70 350 intake.  As you can see in one of the engine photo's, it's also a turbo 400 tranny.  So while we're used to seeing a 350/350 engine/tranny combo, this is a 400/400 combo.

Now Clint has a 350/350 a 400/400 and a 454/400. Since the 454/400 doesn't fit the pattern the tranny should probably be something different. Since I don't know of a tranny named 454 it should probably just be something different, say a TKO.

Last June I changed the dash pad and cluster surround.  The dash pad had a chunk missing out of it by my left knee, and the cluster surround had been hacked when a cassette player was installed.  This dash pad came out of a 69 Bonneville.  The 69 glove box latch is in a different spot, so a slight modification was required.  I was getting ready to bolt the dash in, and realized there wasn't a spot for the bolt from the park brake assembly.  The US Pontiac's use a completely different park brake assembly, not like our Chevy ones.  Had to take the dash out and drill a hole.  For the cluster surround, fortunately I have a number of spares.  I also installed a AM/FM mono that I got from a wrecking yard in California.  It helps having 3 cars that are basically the same.

Sure looks nice with those rally wheels.  Always been my favorite wheel.  Were they original?

I was hoping that you would post pictures of the car, Clint. Looks fantastic and I agree about the wheels looking good on the car!! It's hard to beat those GM rallys. One thing GM was good at was designing rally wheels that are timeless and look great on most anything! Be it the Corvette or Camaro or the GTO or even the trucks, the rally wheels always look good.

What all years and models use the same console and bucket seats? The seats look similiar in style to those used in a full sized Chevy from '68..

yes the ralley wheels are stock.

The console is the same as 68 - 69 Impala & Caprice, with one small difference.  Chevrolet didn't use the console in 70 as they no longer made the Impala SS, and there is a small clasp on the console door on the 70 2+2's.  It looks like it came off of someone's clarinet case, but it's original.

As for the "Strato Buckets", I think they were used from 69 until about 72 or so.  If I recall, the 68 buckets are similar, but the button to tilt them forward is on the side, whereas starting in 69 the button is in the middle of the back.
