production #'s

I was reading Sticky's production #'s & found it "very interesting" as I'm looking at a 58 2dr.sedan [by e-mail so far] this gives me some good info, if & when the guy gets back to me w/pictures. A friend of mine has a 65 Custom Sport rag top, 409 factory 4spd that I believe he said was one of 6 built, car is,  or was in great shape, the last time I saw it, but hasn't been out of the garage in yrs.  Too bad, but that's his decision, if it were me, top down & lets go!!!   NO he won't sell it, couldn't afford it anyway, I know he paid "BIG BUCKS' for it.

Carl, will send 58 stuff when I get info, this guy seems hesitant to send pics, could be a rough car. As for 65, wont be able to unless I "sneak" a shot of it when I'm at his place, he doesn't want it's whereabouts known, It was confirmed  by G M records that it is a "real" 409" 4spd. car

Can you sneak a peek at the cowl tag and let us know when it was built?    It'll be the sequence of 5 numbers separated by hyphens on the cowl tag)  This was a subject of great interest a  while  ago in a thread (called "the last 409 Pontiac)that was discussing when they stopped making them in 65.

Also is it a 340 horse or 400 horse?

My bro has a 65  Custom sport  409 340 horse 4 speed car  as well that has been documented by GM as one of 74 409 CS hardtops and converts made.  When he got his documentation George Z only broke it down that much.  If what your buddy says is documented then we will finally have the breakdown to numbers between hardtops and converts. (ie 6 converts and 68 hardtops)

By the way I know where there is a 58 Two door sedan for sale in Northern Alberta.  Are you interested?

This one is kind of rough as I recall.  (not running)  I'll take some pics next time I'm past it.
