Lets see, plowed snow with the old Massey Ferguson, then pulled out my spare parts Dakota convertible cab out of the open ended storage shed so I could get at our moribund 88 Westfalia that my wife wants to bring back to life.
Got stuck right in the middle of the plowed yard while trying to carry the cab on the bucket. (I have been too lazy to put the chains on the Massey.) Finally decided to use my new old 4X4 to pull the Westy out. Got my wifey to steer it with no power assist and luckily that went well. Then had to go for the two mile walk she is trying to get me to do as a habit to hopefully lose about 20 years of accumulated flab and get ready for the big trek in Spain next year. (She's got us planned to do the Camino.)
Then listened to some of my new Bear Family box set of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys for a while and ate a butter tart i had hidden in my mancave. (sneaky laugh here) Good stuff!
Then had a great supper.
Then tried to figure out how to actually mount the ball mount for my GPS in the 95 Chevy 4X4 as the adhesive will not stick worth crap. Still working on that one. Might drill the dash but that's a last resort.
The did some adjustment on the 38 Willys pickup cab front body mounts and realized I'll have to move the whole cab about 1/4 to 1/2 inch forward.
Will see how that works tomorrow. Hope there's enough room in the body mount holes.

I was very fortunate to get that boot. A friend of mine sold me a real nice Hurst Competition Plus (that I had planned to use until very recently when "originalitis" hit me hard) and he shipped me the boot and retaining ring as well. Looking online I see how big a favour he did for me, those things are not easy to find.
I had hoped to use the Hurst under a stock handle but doing that moves the handle up quite a bit. I looked at a number of pictures of cars that had that and it just doesn't look right if you want the original look. I'm going to try this stock shifter. I spent some time working on it to tighten it up and on the bench it seems good. We'll see once it's on the road how it works. I have another complete shifter assembly on the way from a friend in Nebraska so if this one is no good I may spend more time rebuilding the other one that's coming and see if I can get it tightened up. The biggest complaint about those stock shifters is how loose they get with age.

My 427 Grande Parisienne had a nice tight shifter still when I sold it at 159,000 miles but that was almost 30 years ago. I don't know how it will be by now though.
I can't get enough of the side to side slack out of this one yet but the rest feels really crisp. I'm still scheming how to tighten it up sideways. That pivot can't be taken apart because there some stuff assembled then welded together there.

Hey Carl can't quite remember since we talked if you are going the whole hog or running the 283 4speed combo for a while. Either way i guess you'll have to swap out the column. Were you ever able to get a bottom bearing for that one?

Thank you. I'm happy with how it's turning out. I'm still planning to do some more metal finishing to get rid of the bumps but at least the contour is right now. Man, I'm still shaking my head over how poor that it fits out of the box.

Fired up the Acadian and Chevelle from their winter slumber. Ran them until they reached operating temperature and drove them around the yard before putting them back to sleep! Good weather can't come soon enough for me!

spent the day trying to fit a 26 x 26 storage unit full of stuff into my racking storage at home. over a number of weeks I have just piled it up at home just to empty the unit. Scrapped a lot and still have too much

You mean to prove it's not fake, that there's actually a Muncie under there?
Well I will settle for seeing you finally cut the hole, if you actually swapped tranny as well double bonus.
Spring is coming, I want a ride in a 4sp car.
The hole is cut. I just need to detail the cut a little bit, there's 2 little jagged edges.
And the Muncie is under there, rest assured.
Hopefully an updated shot one evening soon for you, showing the big hole and a Muncie tailhousing. I still have to drop the shifter back down to retrieve the shifter mounting bracket that Andrew loaned me but my replacement won't likely be here for at least 10 days.
