Big step today , American autowire 510063 classic update harness, engine And lighting circuits done.

Fired up Dart SHP 421 cid. Sbc , sounds awesome with 2 1/2" exhaust and magnaflow mufflers.

tested out 605 steering box and hydroboost brake system. Need to install shifter so i can go around the block.

next on the list is dash  wiring and interior.

More progress done, i drove up and down the driveway. First time in 8 years.

Explored some hidden "roads" nearby with my Jeep. S'cuse the blurry photo.. It's amazing how many KM of old roads there are in the woods.

Also visited a fellow who had a pile of Jeep YJ parts for sale. Picked up a really nice hardtop, another front bumper, an antenna (mine was missing) and a pair of tow hooks for $135. Couldn't beat that!

It's been so long since we flooded I forget what it was like! Plus we're in town now protected by a ring dike.

Had a bit better luck with my F**d project Friday.

Heard of a fresh 1985 T-Bird in the wreckers, The brake pedal was the last major part I needed to erase the bad memory of the previous owners 5 speed conversion hack job.

Fortunately the dash was the same from 85-88, so the assembly was the same for all Cougars and T-Birds.

006.jpg

The nice part was the car in the wreckers was undisturbed before I got to it furious

I spent a lot of time at the wreckers, upside down, under the dash, studying, before I took it apart.

The Cougar's previous owner had decided that all those extra parts were not necessary evileye

Installed the pedal in the Cougar as soon as I got home while everything was fresh in my mind.

With all the "Non necessary" parts included biggrin

I bought a 78 Chevy 4x4 stepside last year and have collect most of the parts to rebuild it. The cab was massively rusted so I found a decent replacement cab as well as some new doors and fenders. I also parted a truck and sourced parts so I will have a fairly well optioned truck once back together.

Co worker asked me if I wanted to go out with him on the boss's lobster boat to troubleshoot a noise he said he was hearing.

We got a few miles out- didn't hear any noise but the engine started to overheat. She lost a lot of coolant. We had to limp it back to a closer harbour. It was touch and go as the tide was going out. We made it and figure the input for seat water that gets pumped in to help cool the engine is plugged. Will require a diver to check. I'll tell you this the turbocharged Volvo diesel in this boat really hauls a**! Something like 440 HP at the prop

Nice job request, glad you made it back. Just visiting my daughter out of Seattle here and they went prawning 2 weeks ago and had to get towed to an island, then catch a ferry home. Got home at 2 in the morning. Had to get the boat the next weekend. Electrical issues between the two batteries. Always nice when these are back to shore, especially in the ocean.

They are a cool ride. My neighbour took me out to see how lobster fishing is done. I told him beforehand that I'd be a great "observer" and not a fisher.biggrin

Happens around here. Will suck up a plastic bag,sea weed etc and plug the screen on the through hull. Before hiring a diver,If you have portable air tank you can disconnect the inlet side of raw water pump and blast some air to clear the screen. Put the whole hose below the waterline afterwards and see if water pours out. Could also be the impeller in the raw water pump that feeds the heat exchanger.

Talked to Johnny (our "fixer") tonight. Turns out one of the pipes from the intake was connected to another pipe with a galvanized connector (prev owner must have done this). It corroded and was sucking air.. All fixed. Was offered a trip out tomorrow to do some mackerel fishing. Just may take him up on the offer.

Todd, I saw a PEI lobster boat that had an 1100HP Cat. What do they normally use for raw saltwater intake, bronze?

These boats will be hybrid power soon.

I think so. Some of these guys have incredible boats. Before moving here I had the impression fisherman were poor. That's far from the case! Lobster fisherman this year have been offered over 1 million just for their license!
