the on going saga of steves 70 2+2 rag

heres a pic of when we picked it up

how it sat for most of the year. while looking for parts

separation

rear end

underside of frame

not much else to dismantle on the frame, now its detailing, buying parts and reassembling. i've ordered the new floor pans. they should be here before the weekend.

It's sometimes hard to believe that is progress but looks like you're on your way. How's the rotissiere working? Looks like it's holding it's own.

Good work ! Now is the harder part of the job, restoring it and putting it back together. Hey what's that Firebird I see in the back covered in snow, 400 car ?

power washed the frame last friday. inside and out. i can't believe how much sand was in that thing

put it back in the shed to drip dry

wire wheeled the rear end and disassembled. one drum was cracked around edge so replaced with the finest offshore available. also did the wheel cylinders. emerg cables should be here tomorrow and the one flex line to the frame is due monday. gave the 3rd member a coat of armour coat gloss black.

you mention how much sand was in the chassis.  The frame of the wagon I bought last summer was full of dried mud, it was probably holding what was left of the frame together.    Good work so far!!!

the front clip on that wagon looks very good.  It'll bolt right up to the 2+2, you'll just need to move the 350V emblems and add the 2+2 louvers.  Check the wagon for a heavy duty front sway bar, they're 15/16" if I recall.  The wagon may also have a posi diff.

That wagon doesn't look too  bad - but sometimes there have to be sacrifices for the greater good.

I've had 3 67-68 Canadian Chevy wagons with 10 bolts; one was a posi. Two of the cars came from Labrador, which has arctic level weather conditions in winter.

Great progress Steve.

Great progress. Wish I was retired. Then maybe I could do the body off on my 63 Impala. But I'm too young; well actually, I'm not too young, my kids are, and there's lots of money to be spent on them before I can retire.
