Thanxs for the vote of confidence. i haven't worked on it this weekend because of work and i can't substantiate turning the heat on for only a couple of hours. i did half the ball joints yesterday and pulled apart the tie rods and cleaned and painted the joiners (don't know the automotive name, better then do ma jiggy) was thinking of mike667 when i picked up and paid for 4 ball joints, up and lower and 4 tie rods outer and inners and that was over 500 and i don't pay off the street price. i wasn't going to replace them. they were tight, but one lower did have a tear in the rubber and since i had everything apart.

apart. like my vintage shop chair.

only gave 2 whack with the 20oz princess automotive framing hammer (Ford Tool) then went straight to the 10lbs sledge.

Look at the exhaust tip on that wagon, specifically the heat shield. Those came stock on the 1970 Chevy & Canadian Pontiac wagons. I have not seen that particular heat shield anywhere after 1973. I think some 1972 Chevelle wagons used it as well.

Did you change the upper arm stops as well Stephen?

Dime a dozen for those.

If you don't, she'll clang up front when you get airborne over the tracks!

haven't done much to the car in awhile. i was going to use a used trunk i had, but after pondering for a bit i decided to go with a new trunk. so i now have new floor pans front to back (just not installed) but life has got in the way, good thing this is a hobby and not a job or i would be fired. i've been studying to be a motorcycle instructor, so with 2 part time jobs and a lawn to mow and recently the 55 has started leaking from the front of the engine. ah it never ends.

Boy Pally yer a booger ta go! WOW! You've gotten more done on that car in the last year than I've got done on mine in 13! Say, wanna come up for an all expense paid weekend? That oughta be ALL it takes for you to TOTALLY restore mine for me! I would have gladly let ya cut that front panel piece out of one of my cars to use instead of all that fabricating Steve. I imagine the 69 and
70 are the same? You sure are the Master of Fabrication my friend!

Glad that roof will come in handy for ya pally! Guess it was worth the trek up to ol' St. Ratford eh?
The burgers at the local "Arrive & Wait" didn't hurt the situation either I'd say. And there was absolutely nothing wrong with the conversation and laughs we had to boot! Keep us posted now yer in fer the winter mate.

thanxs frank. finished repairing the windshield frame yesterday. couple repairs to the temp rag top and shes on. gonna leave it on. i've heard too many horror stories about convertible bodies coming off the rotisseries and the doors won't shut or a too big of gap because of the bodies flexing w/ repairs ie floor replacement.

how do you think a 65 strato chief roof would look on the 2+2.

lower cowling driver side as per normal cut stuff away

as per normal cut patterns out of cardboard, transfer to steel and weld back in

drivers side wheel house, outer wasn't really there. now is, shot from inside trunk

template

welded in

Good job there Steve, nothing is going to slow you down. I can see why you get so good at what you are doing, there is a ton of everything to do. Keep it up man and keep that camera handy.
