Weather stripping

Hi guys, I'm looking for some weatherstripping for my '61 laurentian four door.  Would a catalina's weatherstripping be compatible?  I've found a few places that deal with old american pontiacs but I'm not sure just what will crossover with mine.  Any leads or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Whoohoo, you guys are fast!  I've always been good at amassing resources for my old cars but this whole canadian pontiac thing is messing with me, lol.  I'm not entirely sure where the chevy stops and the pontiac starts and how much of that pontiac is compatible with american pontiacs confuse

Glen. all drive train is chevy, body shell will be chevy, just the "tin" & interior will be CDN. Poncho. It's basically a Chevy with Cdn. pontiac "body stuff" hung on it!!!!

That's great, thanks!  So basically all the rubber bits I need for it can be bel-air?  I know a great upholsterer so I think I'll just do up all the door panels, dash pad, and parcel tray with him. Should I want to just buy them though, would I be able to use bel air stuff, or maybe catalina?

Glen, I think you'll have to stay with Canadian models when you mention Pontiac, ie Strato Chief,Laurentian, etc Catalina is American model & some parts ARE NOT interchangable. Stick to Chevrolet when looking for mechanical parts & CDN pontiac for the rest

Thanks. Yeah, that's about what I'd figured.  I'd seen some interior shots of a catalina recently that had damn near identical door panels to mine so I wasn't sure.

From a new Restoration Specialties & Supply, inc catalogue.

Front door weatherstrip kit,
61- 64 Chev, Pont, Buick, Olds, Cad, 4 Door Sedan.
PN 2009

Rear door weatherstrip kit,
61- 64 Chev, Pont, 4 Door Sedan and Wagon.
PN 2018

From the GM Canadian Pontiac MPC.

Group 10.694, Doors, Hardware - Glass.
Pages 504-505.

Front Doors.
61- 62, All  -35 -54 -
69
L 4810744   R 4810745

Rear Doors
61 - 63, All
-69
L 4897260  R 4810747

-69 =
1961 Laurentian 4 door sedan.

So the Restoration Specialties Catalogue confirms the front door weatherstrips are used across the board on all full size GM 4 door Sedans of 1961-64. The rears just Chev and Pontiac.
The GM CP part numbers show that -69 only carry till 62 for the front door and 63 for the back.

Hope this helps.

Mark

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Dale at NOS Reproductions.  Great guy to deal with, great prices (especially for forum members) and it feels good to support a fellow canadian.  My weather stripping arrived today and hopefully I'll be getting to it this week. thumbsup.gif
