RE: 65 to 66 wagon body panel production and install

ive seen them, and had to rip them off cars, they are complete garbage, if i want a decent panel i make my own patches, and since its a stationwagon they never were reprode. i will have patterns made so i can make them for anyone now.

Good to know. I've never seen them, just the catalogue listng. But I did buy some 63 Chevy quarter panel patch panels a few years ago that came from there and they were unusable.

I was cleaning up some old stuff  a few days ago and found an old Cross Canada catalogue from 1980 or 82. At that time they actually listed patch panels for 65 and 66 Pontiac quarters, as well as a good selection from 61-64 and 68-70. I guess they are no longer available now??

Nope, I phoned Cross Canada with an old part # that I got off the passenger-side NOS Cross Canada quarter panel I have, and they couldn't help me. I even gave them the old order # and shipping address (here on PEI) off the carton and their records didn't go back that far.cry

U.S. quarter panels are longer and need modifications.

Keep on bucking!!!

ive modified it to do sheetemtal, it says its running 70 amps but its more like 35, i like migs but then you have a gas issue, and i cant really afford a good tig, this is the poor mans version, and im used to it. its nice to see progress on all the cars posted, and i blame Carl he talked me into posting the progress, quite frankly rust is imbarrasing, but rust happens. the beauty of this project is that now i have the forms and templates to make more, and besides two wagon specific parts i can use the rest on normal pontiacs.

haven't done this one in a while,im producing lower quarters for one of our members first mold making 24 wood blocks have to be cut for one side, that means also 24 templates have to be made, I have nine more to go before one side is done and I can start the final smoothing on them and can start bending sheet steel.004 (4).jpg

Cool.

Now that you have the wooden set of bucks made, how long will they last after forming the metal over top of them?

im not pounding on it , just forming so I can make quite a few copies, wood becomes work hard the more its used the denser it becomes, now its the other side and the quarter supports inside the wheel well, I didn't think it wood turn out like this id say its about 85  percent of the original and a good body man can get it the rest of the way.
