Back in 1975 Buick paced the Indy 500. The car was the formal roofed Century Custom and it was equipped with Hurst Hatch removable T-roof panels & custom graphics. For 1975 Buick did away with the 455 in the Century and made the 350 the top engine. In fact the reworked V6 was placed back into service for the 1st time since 1967 (at Buick anyway). The actual pace car received a 455.
There were a few Pace Car replicas sold. I only ever remember seeing one back when it was new. It was at Kerr Pontiac Buick Cadillac in Oakville, Ontario. I did see it on the road in the late 1970s and eventually saw it in an Auto Trader painted all white. I wonder if it survived?

I currently own this 1975 Buick Century Gran Sport
It is the end of the line for tradition Buick Skylark/Century based Gran Sports for 1965 -1975
They Built 1,288 of these in 1975
The Gran Sport option gave you the following:
Blacked out Grill with Gran Sport emblem
Blacked out Headlight Bezels
Blacked out tail light bezels
Unique 1975 only Gran Sport Stripes and Gran Sport decals
Heady duty springs and shocks with fat 1" diameter front sway bar and .875 rear sway bar.
Quick ratio steering box
Wide oval G70-15 Black wall radial tires
Rally Gauge cluster and clock
This car still sports its original Black and Gold Gran Sport Decal stripes and interior
Beyond the Gran Sport option this car was ordered with unique Black /White Buckets seats/interior, floor shift console, body colored D35 sport mirrors,15 inch Buick Chrome Rally wheels, Rally steering wheel,PS and disc brakes.
Attached are a few pics of this car after interior was cleaned up and exterior paint buffed out.
Pretty cool Gran Sport there Trishieldchief. I was into the new car offerings and collecting brochures ever since about 1969. I still have all my 1975 Buick brochures, but I must say that I can't recall ever having seen a 1975 Gran Sport. O.K., maybe one.
I looked to see if Phoenix Graphics has the decal kit for your car, but all they have are the Gran Sport script decals, not the stripes. I would say that documenting those stripes and sending a note to Phoenix Graphics may be in your best interest. It may mean that if anything happened to your car, or if you repaint it then you can still retain those unique, correct stripes. They have the kit for 1973-74 but not 1975.
I searched for a set of original decals for my 1971 Evinrude Yachtwin 4-horse outboard and found the very last NOS set in inventory from an old Evinrude dealer in New Jersey back in 2008. I then donated them to a guy in Markham, who is now reproducing them for the benefit of anyone who needs them. http://nymarine.ca/
