Does anyone know where i could find replacements for these? I don;t know what they are called, but they sit on the inside edge of the front doors of my 55 pontiac and hold the "rope" on one side and the cowl pads/"kick plates" on the other. they extend from the bottom of the window to the floor. Thanks!
They are called windlace retainers. They are on ebay quite a bit and are the same as the 55 Chev. Just search out 1955 windlace retainers. I will check and see if CARS has repos today.
also found a place in ON that has these parts - Antiquechev.com has almost same part # as Harmons - a "D" in front instead of a "B" D705035 price in Cdn $ is 224 + $20 shipping. others were 197 & 199 US $ plus shipping - so works about the same. saves the border hassle/dollars that sometimes crops up with gtting parts.
Thanks for your help in where to look!! appreciate it.
I gotta ask - are your original parts so far gone that you cannot clean/paint them and make them work? $200 is a LOT of cash for something that is located where people don't look much ...

I am sure you can find a good used set a lot cheaper. Be patient I am sure a set will come up on ebay and you will get them for about $50.00. GM built millions of 55-57 Chevs and there are still a lot of parts cars kicking around especially in Arizona and California.
