Just joined on this website. Didn't even know about this site. My ride's not near as nice as yours but I'm still working toward finishing the metal work. My first 2 pics are from before I started. Though the pics don't show it the frame and body was full of rust. The update is...I've put in a new frame which I was lucky to find. Then replaced the rusty floor, floor braces, complete trunk, rear wheel wells, door skins, fender patch panels, left quarter panel and now working on the last right quarter panel. (the light at the end of the tunnel it seems).
Also realize this thread's a year old. confuse.gif

One thing I always found amusing is that these cars, these honorary Pontiacs, were pure Chevrolet underneath. yet the aircleaners on both the Canadian Chevies & Canadian Pontiacs  through 1966 were Pontiac air cleaners (at least on the small block V8s). There are so many little details that are unique to them, like the firewall & trunk paint (body colour), power brake booster reservoir (painted black through 1966), oil filler caps painted orange, not black as the U.S.  Chevies.

I seriously was considering a 1966 Beaumont Custom sport coupe back in 1987 from the original owner but I had no place to keep it as I had recently gotten a 1-owner 1967 Chevelle, which I still have. The Beaumont was Marina Blue like yours, and unusual for a six-cylinder car back then, also had factory power steering & power brakes. The valve cover decal said Turbo Thrift 230 like a Chevrolet, yet was confirmed as original to the car. I have hear that Chevelles & Beaumonts rolled down the same line intermixed, so it is easy to see why the Chevelle & Beaumont had the same number of options available, why the valve covers on the Canadian Chevelles did not have the Chevrolet script; stuff like that.

Theres a Red one with a white top and interior in BC. I know the last owner , maybe he can track it down. It used to be in Three Hills.

Thanks for the response.  You might find the following thread of interest, or at least it might explain why I was asking in trying to see what the pattern was with these:
http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=118110&p=3&topicID=29904474

It seems like there are some that say Beaumont, some that say Acadian, and some that say neither?

 Jack,

I thought I gave you this site a long time ago-I was wondering why you weren't on here. Maybe I didn't give it to you but I'm pretty sure I was telling you about it-sorry

Ken

Very nice!  Do the valve cover decals say Beaumont on them?

You know that old saying that everybody has a body double somewhere in the world? I'm not sure if you've ever seen this '02 cover from the Canadian Chevelle Beaumont news, but it lives (or lived) in Fort Macleod Alberta...

If my memory is good I beleive Ken is correct. Of the 565 convertibles sold only 57 were Sport Deluxe, I iwill confirm this once I get home and check the info I received from GM. I will send you under the hood pics once I get back home sometime this week. blankstare

Jack will be able to tell you best from his documents but my records show 57 Sport Deluxe rag tops-I could be incorrect

Thanks for the feedback.  My documents indicate 565 of the convertibles made, but it makes no reference to the "57" or "68"?...

You're going to love it here, and we're going to love you being here!!!  It's a great support group.  (If you ever have a weak moment and consider selling your car, this place will straighten you out. LOL)
It would be great to see a shot or two of the engine compartment if and when you get a chance.

Would love to here from anyone that owns a 1966 Pontiac Beaumont Sport Deluxe convertible. I have owned mine since 1979 and to date have not come across another one. I have seen a couple that were customs made to look like the Sport Deluxe but not the real thing. I have seen a few pictures. Love to hear from you. yawn

Hello and welcome aboard Jack, from a fellow '66 SD rag owner.  Good to see that you made your way to the site.  (I sent you an email yesterday when I came across a picture of your car on a link from a couple of years back, so I wasn't sure if it was still active or not.  Looks like it may be?)
I would agree, your's looks to be the nicest representation of a stock '66 SD rag in existance!
Mine was built on June 15, '66.  Mist Blue with the Bright blue interior.  Still has the factory 327.  Although the car is pretty tired looking.  (Also, it was repainted so I'm curious if your's is also Mist blue, which is visibly different from mine?)
Would love to see more photo's such as an under the hood, and in the trunk shots if possible?
Ken, I know it's splitting hairs but you mentioned "57" of these, and I've often heard 68 which is also mentioned on this site.  (Reason I ask is that at one point I was considering a vanity plate labeled 1 OF 68, and held back as I thought people might ask why I was touting it as a '68 when it's a '66.)  Is there a confirmed number?
Again, welcome Jack!

Jack will be able to tell you best from his documents but my records show 57 Sport Deluxe rag tops-I could be incorrect

trunk pan shot-thats all I can give you-let Jack tell you the storey-I hate to disclose about someone's car
