Welcome, Our 70 Tempest was that exact colour, very popular back then.

That vinyl roof looks like a dealer installed option. This is how dealers juiced the price of the cars back then, very often vinyl roofs were dealer installed.

I have to say it is a very cool looking roof.

Is you car a Canadian car, powered by an orange 350 engine?

We have the sales brochure here:

That roof treatment is not shown as a factory option in the booklet.

I believe GM only offered a full vinyl top in the 60's & early 70's. It wwas not uncommon for a dealer to quote the GM suggested list & then have the local trim shop install an after market top for a fraction of the GM cost. I know a couple of trimmers who learned there trade at that time & it was not unusuall for the shop to install 8-10 vinly tops in a day! an hour per car!
By the way we offer the original tops made from the original material.

thanks guys;  Dale @ NOS

That type of vinyl top wasn't available until 1976, you could get it on the Lemans and Firebird line. It's called a "canopy vinyl top". You'll see that type of vinyl top on the '76 "Olympic" edition Lemans in another post.

thanks for the replies everyone, this site is great, wish we had this forum 23 yrs. ago...lol. i've been debating changing the look to a gto or sport model. i really like the sleeper look though. thanks for the link to the brochure, the only other option i've noticed on this car is the 140 mph. speedo.   the car was purchased around the corner from where i live now, so i may see if they have any info.

If your thinking about a GTO clone, keep in mind it involves changing all front sheet metal....hood, endura bumper, rad support, fenders etc......  I had thought about it with my Lemans as well but decided to save that money for other stuff. Nice car...I like it!!!!

Welcome.
I do like the roof. I'd keep it as  a Lemans as well.
Depending on what parts you need  most Lemans-GTO guys on here have extra parts for the 70-72 A body...just list it on the parts wanted thread. or here dosen't matter
