I'm finally getting around to installing my headliner, but am a bit stumped at how it all goes. Does anyone have any photos of your partly assembled and finished headliners and door frames? I think I'm missing some parts but am not sure of this. Also how does the windlace get installed? What does it attach to? is it glued in?

In most cases there should be a tack strip that the pipping would be stapled to. and over each door there would have been a metel piece(with teeth) that would have been screwed into the body and the material would tucked in between the metal and pipping. Some simply stapled pipiping in and stapled headliner in and covered with a garnish molding. front and back would have had a smaller tack strip that i would glue and staple then the trim pcs install after. some plainner models had no trim on rear window, then the window must be out to install. if you have any pics around the doors, rear 1/4 windows(so i can see some indicators), i might be able to better discribe for you the process . thx
thanks. this means that i am missing those metal parts with the teeth. I see the screw holes you're talking about and know what you mean about the tack strip. I might have to go the route of using a garnish molding. I'll see about getting some pics of the rear 1/4 windows. Appreciate your information!!
the headliner would be glued in around rear windoww and 1/4 windows( a contact adhesive preferably brush on, 3m spray is expensive and in most case not strong enought to hold the tension required when pulling front to back). as for the tack strips you can try and order up the convertible tack strips(there are two sizes).Rear window does not have to come out on this aplication. And im guessing you have the bows still.
yup i have the bows, and there will be no problem with the trim as i have already had it off. i'm going to have to go online to seek out some tacking strips. Am still wondering tho, about moldings, if there are any "out there" specifically for this application.

does anyone out there have photos of an installed headliner so I can see what it is supposed to look like? The trouble is, the car had no headliner when i got it, so i didn't have the benefit of dismanteling it and seeing how things were to be put together
Chevy is the same as Pontiac. You will definately need the metal strips to have something to hold the headliner. All 4 door sedan Chev and Pontiac are the same. Do not attempt to install an original style headliner without the metal pieces with the teeth.
Sorry, I don't know - my 2 door sedan is of course a little different than your 4 door - since mine has a custom interior, the headliner appears to be black vinyl, not sure how that would compare to original anyway.

Thanks Al!! when you don't take something apart, you are never sure what is needed to put it back together. I'm starting to get the full picture. Your don;t have any shots of your headliner do you? pictures help me lots. Thanks again Siemen
