I have the bill of sale for my 72 Olympic. It was $677.25 all in. Dad would not let me buy the twin cylinder so I had to settle on the 15 hp single. It was a step up from the Elan. I bought a used 73 Polaris triple 500 with the drag pipes, man did that thing sound sweet till I had it going side ways on a frozen lake at 75mph and hit a crusty spot on the ice. Neither me or the machine faired well.
I know I have an original 1971 Skidoo brochure around here somewhere. It said "The nineteen seventy one!" and featured all the sleds. I think the TNT went silver for 1973, then largely black for 1974.
There used to be so many snowmobile manufacturers back around the turn of the 1970s. Rupp, Raider, Skiroule, Moto Ski, Boa Ski, Massey Ferguson (cheese whiz LOL), Mercury, Johnson & Evinrude, Chaparral, John Deere, Arctic Cat, Coleman, Snow Jet, Polaris, and Im sure there were a good number more than that. Today there are only a couple that survived.

Yup the old cheezer was quite the unit. Funny story: I was farting around on the lake in front of the folks cabin one winter and the throttle stuck on the old backwards JLO. Well at full throat I went roaring up the bank forgot about the key, avoided the house and proceeded to mow down a whole pile of 4 inch poplars. An 8 incher finally halted my progress but I continued to dig a goodly sized hole in mother earth. The old man came out of the house and followed my cut line to where me and the cheezer had finished our work for the day, shut the key off shook his head and walked back to the house......never said a word. A slightly dented bumper was the only result.

have to have a look but pretty sure they are on the carb side of engine facing operator, also have a 775 for a 72 that needs jugs and pistons if you know of any.

Life is good, old cars, old sleds. The MF is 68, the doo a 64 I did one winter when didn't have enough room for car. Have a 775 engine out of a 70 if that helps.
Is it 4sale? Are the coils mounted on the front or back of the motor...

If you want one, a buddy here in Ontario called me last week ready to sell his T'Jet.. 60 year old owner, hasn't ridden it for 10 years or so but keeps the carbs clean for periodic fire up and ear candy!. It'd be best to go through it if plans were to vintage race it but 5 thou w/ spares would buy it, pull the rope and hang the frig on!!!

Looks like below sled but it's a '74 340..

Ahhh yes i like vintage sleds! Takes me back to being a kid! I'd love a Thunderjet!! I just youtubed an indy 600 triple, that engine with pipes was just so fun to hear!! Just put a smile on my face, and goosebumps!!! i loved riding mine when i was 13-16, it queched my need for speed!! ...then i got my license and the beaumont on the road! Best of both seasons!
It's the X4R Speed run sled!. X4R stands for Experimental 4 x Rotax engines.. First run w/ 4 x 776 1970 Blizzard Twins then later w/ 4 x 1971 Blizzard 797 triples!. I had a chance to buy it many years ago and foolishly passed.. Heard Bombardier offered 75 thou a few years back to the guy who has it now but they haven't got it back yet.. Poor footage but click here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyB2xfpUjzw
Pic below is my favourite of sleds I doo have here, a 1970 1'st year Blizzard 340 factory racer!. It looks like an Olympic but the tunnel is actually aluminum w/ a Single Free Air and a big pipe!. Lots more yellow racers here...a few other colors too!.

Mostly old factory racers here at my place but I know lots of guys who have these.. Even though they're not race sleds, clean original and resto 775's are getting expensive the past few years!. If you're looking for one, do you want a pull the rope and go sled or a project?. Budget?. Are you specific to a '70 or is a '71 or '72 Ok too?. How far are you willing to travel?.
