Welll despite all the poor reviews 65camino and I took a drive out to the airport about 5:00 pm and took in the show.

I have to say that we both disagree wit the comments as we thoroughly enjoyed the show and found the Tuner section to be the most crowded and lively with a number of very interersting cars and body styles.

We saw two cars of guys we know from on here, Mike from Wasaga Beach area and his Gold Cheetah tribute and Andy's, who is a friend of Tiny and Todd, Willies.

Here are those two cars first.

Thanks Ray for the photos. Looks like it would have been a great show. Pictures showed everything that I like to see at a show anyhow. Those tuner cars need a little help for attention anyway.

Hey lots of fun with those photos.

All those wagons really rock, I really like the mid '90s Caprice with the little tail fins.

Lots of other great cars too.

The '62 chopped Pontiac comes off looking pretty good.

Thanks for that!

Ah yes, those body styles ... would be better sans tattoos, though, eh?

devilish.gif

As far as CARS go, I think this one is particularly creative, wonder if the left one opens up for fuel like the original in 56?:

90s_chevy_wagon.jpg

And ever since Hot Rod (the book, not the magazine) I have thought that copper looks good as trim:

hot_rod1.jpg

(however should be a generator not an alternator, and is that an AC compressor I see on the other side??!! hope not!!)

thanks for the pics, Ray.

Dave

Thanks guys for saving me the $$$ and the drive there. Quick question, has anyone got opinions on the car show in London in a few weeks?
Only $10 each to get in, so we save $20 towards the gas, might pay for one way.

sorry if i gave a bad impression about the show, i enjoyed the show but was disappointed in the volume of cars. i was comparing it to lasts years which had 5 halls of hot rods and the last hall (down the hallway) was for tuners. i really think march break had a lot to do with it. a friend of mine was asked to have his wagon it it because it was this years theme, but alas he's down in florida right now.

Thanks for the pics.... Looks like a better show than the World of Wheels out here. Better variety of cars, even with the tuners, and more room..

I'm sorry guys but I wouldn't walk 10' to look at the tuners or the girls [too old for them] Yes they spend tons on their cars, & help the economy,BUT, I just can't get my head around them. When they show up at a Cruise In that allows those cars they usually ruin it for everyone else with the stereo's "just a thumpin" so loud it drowns out the D-J!!! There just a Honda or a Toyota etc. with a whole bunch of "BOLT ONS" Some of them have such Big wheels & rubber, that I think the stopping power is next to nothing!!! But I guess all they care about is "looking cool" & not the safety factor

Well doesn't this describe exactly to a T what we did with Just a Nova, Just a Falcon or Just a Valiant ? You know they say we become our parents as we age. I know my parents never liked the music we played, they thought my cars were too loud and my dad just shook his head as I changed front brakes on my first souped up Monza every month.

Dad showed me his perfomance books from just after the war, water injectors, split exhausts and multiple carb sixes and would I play Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey records?

Nothing changes, these guys do just what we did on the cars they have available, it's all the same right down to the girls and music except they do on present day cars and we try to relive a time that has past.

See What I mean....

Friends asked us to go down Saturday afternoon, so we went. Haven't been there in a few year. I guess I'm either getting old or in a time warp. I don't get this rat rod thing. Most of the girls could have stood with a professional makeover. The ricers don't interest me, although I can appreciate the tremendous work that has gone into some of them. We did meet some good friends that we haven't seen since last year. Had a chat with Cam Waugh, owner of the chopped top '55 Chev wagon. He's a regular at our cruise nights in the summer. Loved the gold '67 Cheetah. I'd take that one home in a second. There were some nice muscle cars from the sixties, and we enjoyed seeing them. I guess I'm just stuck in the musclecar era. I will have to get my butt in gear, fix up our Chevelles and enter them to make a bit of a '69 presence. Probably won't happen any time soon at the rate I get things done though. Our real enjoyment is going for an all day Sunday drive in the summer. To us, that is the ultimate thing about these old cars. Shows are secondary.

Ray, yes we did do those things, BUT we didn't put 20" wheels on, where the car was designed for 13' wheels. Those brake rotors & calipers weren't designed to stop that much rolling weight or whatever. Thats the safety thing I was trying to get across. Ya I did a cam & high rise on my 65 Valiant 273 Hi Po 4 spd. did the mags [same size as car came with] & thought the FM converter [hanging under dash] was heaven, no more AM radio for me!!! OH & the 8 track too. Maybe they have changed from a few yrs. ago, I remember the York r
Region Police hitting on the tuners at the Markham show for unsafe vehicles, hope they have "cleaned up their act at shows as well . Just M O  Pete
