That is actually a steal with the scoops. The scoops themselves sell for over $250 on ebay auctions. Hinges and latches too. This is a $600 value. Someone in AB should buy it on spec.
You're right and his bumper too. I'll look into shipping but that is one big piece. I had one on the roof of my Suburban and that hood is actaully wider than a Suburban, no kidding.
I exchanged e-mails with the vendor today. The internet is a powerful thing...he was able to describe my car to a T just from getting my e-mail address. Nice fellow, he has a 1973 Luxury LeMans. Anyway we decided that shipping these things was a nightmare. I tried to convince him to just keep the parts.
As for 80GPLJ 's question:
Would it be difficult to imitate that styling on another hood?
If you saw one of these in person you would be able to tell that all GM did was stamp out the openings BUT the openings are finished with a 1/8 inch wide rim and the scoops fit up against this. It would be impossible for anyone using a cutting tool to fold the metal in this fashion. The underhood support is just cut for the openings BUT brackets are welded in place to hold the plastic scoops which fasten with speed screws. A common issue with these hoods is that because teh underhood bracing has been removed they actually fold accross the opening when closing because the hinges are made in such a way that first you push back then close the hood. If you just try to close teh hood you fold it.
I have seen a hood on a 76 where someone cut out a large rectangle around the scoops then grafted that section onto a 76 hood to create a 76 NASA hood.

TUNDRATRDSC, my advice is to look closer to home, these hoods are massive making shipping prohibitive. I know guys with hoods in New York and Ontario but again how would you get it to Nova Scotia, if and that's a big if they want to sell.
IF BEEN LOOKING... I WOULDNT HAVE A PROBLEM SHIPPING IT... I CAN DO SO THROUGH MY COMPANY... I HAVENT FOUND ANYTHING CLOSE AT ALL... IM ALSO MAKING A TRIP TO MONTREAL SOMETHING IN THE NEAR FUTURE SO IT WOULDNT BE MUCH MORE TO TRAVEL IF I FOUND SOMETHING... LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING CLOSE U KNOW OF... DO U STILL HAVE A HOOD AND WHERE R U LOCATED IF SO...
