Saturday we dig our son's car out of it's year storage so he can licence it for the first time since he bought it from us. A month or so ago was the last time he started it and all was good.
Saturday we go to start it and dead, nada, zippo, as if there isn't even a battery in the car.
Checked all the connections, looked perfect. Voltmeter check on the top posts, 12.65 volts, perfect. Tried boosting it, nuttin' still. Checked continuity on the cables, both perfect. Checked for voltage at the end of the positive cable to the back of the alternator, nothing. Man oh man, what can it be???
Finally had a brainwave. It's a dual post battery. Gave ourself a boost off the top posts and it worked perfect!
I have never seen such a weird one to figure out before...

YUP! Had one of those years ago where the battery internally was open between the top and side posts. It too was a side post car and I put another battery in it, saved the old battery for myself for the top post usage in an older top post car.....
