I have a 52 Fleetleader with the straight 6, when it is cold it fires right up and runs great, after about 30 to 45 minutes when you accelerate it hesitates and gets a little "bucky" if you shut it down it will not restart until it cools off. A friend suggested starting with the condenser and checking the points and working my way through coil and the rest of the ignition system.
I would also check the coil. Very similar symptoms to my freinds v8 S10 truck. Would run fine on a cold start and die a few miles down the road. Then would not start until coil cooled down. Just a thought you never know.
Thanks Guys I put a new coil on Thursday night, drove it around Friday night and for about 2 hours today in 85 degrees with multiple starts and it popped off first time every time.
I hope this will fix my 52 as well, it starts great when cold drives fine but when I shut it down it won't restart for 15-20 mins. The car is still new to me so i don't know what bugs I should expect to encounter.
oooops spoke too soon, now the car wont start at all.
