Fenders are a "joy"
A body guy had a pair of '68 El Camino front fenders donated for his blown small block drag rig..
(go figure, an original SS-396 car, now no hood, no street and a huffer up to cab level..)
And offered the drivers side one for my 69..

Always thought they were the same, 68-69..WRONG..
Subtle diff along the "crown"..arrg, the line below the top of the fender..
walk side to side, you might not notice, but they're just that sneaky G.M. bit
off..SIGH.. so it was a patch with the chunk behind the front wheel, yah I know,
from the VIRGIN '68 fender, onto my '69..At least that part's the same.
Then paint match..in 2000 when the car was last painted what was water based ?
Got all the codes, still drove 'em nutso.

I did manage to cut off the front portion of the LeMans fenders and have them welded on to a set of reproduction GTO fenders. They turned out pretty good overall. I will post pics one of these days.

it's the reverse of what 'everyone' else does !

be nice to see your work, I just did a nose job on a 70 Lemans fender,  the brace had been smashed in on an otherwise rust free fender... zip cut and butt weld away we go   !
