A customer called to say he wanted to sell this- asking $10,000 I got the feeling from him that a serious cash no strings deal might be had at around $7500 before snow flies (don't tell him I said that)
he said he bought it this year-drove it the summer-replaced the fuel lines-relined the fuel tank, rebuilt the carb and a couple other things that I can't remember
not sure of its history other than the previous owner had it about 20 years (stored most of that time). as for patches I'm sure its been worked on but I didn't study it (I can if you wish) by the looks of the trunk pan its probably a pretty good one, the paint had a nice shine but was no show job. heres a couple more pics
The engine looks like it's had more than a "rattle can" resto. Think it's been out at some time, no over spray anywhere,& thats hard to do when its in the car!! [ Least for me it is,no matter how carefull I am]

From what I understand when you do a trade you still have to pay tax on full value of the traded vehicle. No one gets away without paying tax..
Ya got that right!!! Both cars would have to be appraised [ if older than MOT records cut off] & Tax paid on that amount. It is possible to save "some' here & have evaluation done lower, then put the car into your name "unfit"& pay tax, sit on the car till spring,then safety & plate it. That way Insurance appraisel & tax appr. don;t contradict each other as there is a few mths in between where you"did some work" on it

that's correct RST appraisals on both vehicles traded tax paid on appraised value is the correct way - with that said every MTO is independantly operated interpreting the rules differently. In Welland they still take a receipt for tax purposes no appraisal if as is

Ken, wish that were true in my area,Lic. office goes by the rule book!!! I did the RST thing on the 52 & got it into my name as soon as I got it home [low RST evaluation] I know some guys who didn't do that & finished the car,then got "NAILED" for FULL taxes on appr. value of finished car!!! Plus all the taxes they had paid on getting it done, kinda like a double whammy. I paid a low tax to start out, so the other taxes don't hurt as much in the end.

agreed-its not a fair tax but I guess the government went after it due to all the low bogus receipts. I'm surprised it hasn't been challenged-I buy a $100 value pair or shoes for 50% off I pay tax on $50.00 what I paid not on the $100 value
I could be doing RST appraisals in Welland if the MTO didn't still do it the old way for as is vehicles but then I'd have to deal with the guys with a 41 Willys body that they want appraised for $1000

I believe so-motor vehicle over 20 years of age or no value on the used vehicle package is the way its worded in my memo to the appraisers-top it off we had to get a license to perform these appraisals
