Looking to buy a slot car kit for anyone getting out of the hobby. There is a race track here in London that run 1/24th cars. I just missed out on complete kit in kijiji for $75 he was wasking, it came with 8 cars, extra bodies, engines, tools, toolbox, everything I needed.
My 13 yr old son is intrested in the hobby. he wants to buy a kit. Some guys get bored and get out of the hobby and sell eveything.
Anyone have a kit with cars etc for sale? Not looking to buy a track.

No these are not adjustable. The rules I beleive for this track are 1/24th cars only. You can use different style bodies. Its lots of fun, cheap and good for a teenager to be involved in something that is positive, has wheels and an engine. The next few years gota keep a close eye and be involved in his life as much as ever. More father son projects the better.
thursdays, darn, wish it was on the weekend sometime, sounds like fun i'm looking to get back into building model cars, same scale, since i don't have the real thing in the garage i can tinker on them.
What kind of a track do they race on? There are different cars for different tracks. Is it routed or plastic? I may be able to set you up depending on that.
I race all kinds. In fact I am selling some 1/32 cars right now in another post.
yeah I saw your post afer some hunting. The fellow that runs the track said they are 1/24th scale only. Watch the video posted above to give ya an idea. I took my boy last thurs and we gt some loaner cars and raced on the beginner level. The pros really know what they are doing. The tool kit stations and all the parts they have are amazing. The owner sells cars by parts and you build them. I missed out on a ad on kijiji here in London this week. Guy had everything you need and more for $75. We missed out by 1 email. Looking to buy a race ready kit with tools, spare parts, engines, bodies etc. Cheapest way to go. Some people get bored and just want out of the hobby and will sell everything. I asked the fellow if we could use different sizes he said 1/24. His track his rules. Its $12 to race. Cheap fun. Covers cost of track and his rental space for a commercial building. Its heated with pop, candy bars. Non profit.
That is a routed track. Yes, 1/24th scale. You have to get a "Parma" type car. Other 1/24 scale cars won't keep up. Stay away from plastic model kits for these. Lexan is the way to go.
Race tracks are cool ... your son will love it, and the memories! Good luck with your slot car quest.
I still have my 1964 Eldon :

The problem with buying someones old car is that it may not be the correct type for what they race at this track. I would suggest that you talk to the current members of the club to see if they can help you out. There are a different motors and chassis available so it would be nice to buy the correct car that you can run.
We help out the kids with used cars, parts, motors etc here. Our club races 1/32 and all the tracks are in homes/garages. You may find something like that in your area as well. I know there is a track in the north end of London which is also 1/24 and may be the same one you posted.
You may want to check out Slot Car Illustrated (CLICK HERE) to see if there is anything listed there. It is an online slot car website with many members in Ontario and worldwide.
If you weren't two hours from me it would be easy to come by my house and try out the 1/32 cars on my wood track. My club races on the weekend but there are people here at other times as well.
wow thanks alot. I missed out on a complete kit for $75 on kijiji, one of the lub members bought it for $75 and been selling each car for $75, he got 8 and parts and tools etc. I am not compelled to buy 1 car for $75 when he bought 8 for $75. There is a fellow in St.Catherines selling 11 cars for $150. If he wasnt so far Id go. I might just do it. We see. There is another fellow, retired member here in London but wants $500 for his lot. Probably a great deal but way over our budget. My son has $100 saved and Ill match his $100. Im sure some fellow has some stuff in his closest ad just hasnt read my kijiji post yet. I am in no rush. I will definately check that site out for sure. I do appreicate your posting very much! Merry Christmas
