I'm looking for anyone that has had experience and know what will fit with out cutting chopping denting you know what i mean. i acquired a set last year that were supposed to fit. i had to cut one pipe on the driver side and move it back 2 inches to clear the power steering box. it will work but will look ugly in the long run. summit has 2 sets that look interesting but are pretty generic in their fit as in will also fit a chevele and a chevy II. no i'm not a fan of stock exhaust manifolds.

I don't have 70 full size experience but I used Patriot and the fit was impeccable. I sourced Chevelle SS454 headers for my LeMans. I read the installation guide and did exacly what it said. I had to trim the drivers side engine mount, remove starter and oil filter. It was a time consumimg job but they fit perfectly with no denting or hammering etc...
I think you'll need headers specific to a B-body car, as you have to deal with the steering box. In other body cars, the steering box is somewhat forward and not in the way. I'd think they should be the same as for a 69 396/427 Impala.
i ordered this set. not from summit. i'll install them tomorrow afternoon. i'll post pics at that time. the ones i had i was told they would fit but they also said 68-72 chevelle. not a great lost because i'll use parts from them for the fenderwall exit headers on the wagon
Yes, 1st Gen "F" body headers do fit. I have them on my 'Chief. Be careful though as there are a couple of different sizes.I had the 1 7/8 tubes short and they were tight.I ended up keeping the 1 5/8 tubes long and had to put a very little dent where the steering box protrudes. Had them ceramic coated(never peel,dis-color,reduces under hood heat) cast color. Fit and look like they belong there.
