hi, I have kind of taken over this car from my dad who had a stroke and can't drive anymore. Working on it and learning about it has rekindled a passian for cars. He bought it as a project. It's complete right down to all knobs, emblems etc and runs great. Solid as a rock underneath and overall the body is pretty decent with the exception of the right rear quarter and trunk fill panel. Mice had done a bit of a number on the interior so working on that now. 327, 2 barrel with powerglide. Dad put stainless duals on it, it sounds great. He's already bugging me to finish the interior so we can get out cruising.
Learned lots here and had a warm reception already so I thought I had better post some pics.
Welcome Mike! Get it done, and take your Dad for a nice summer cruise!

Thanks guys. Glad to be here. cdnpont, I believe it spent most, if not all of it's life before we got it, in the Hamilton area. Still has the DAA Hamilton sticker on it and the dealership logo (who's name escapes me at the moment).

Ahh..I thought so! Wondered what happened to that car...so original! Great that it's made it into good hands that will give it the care it deserves. Cheers, Mark

I saw that first pic in the registry and thought that was probably ours. Now I see the second pic, it is without a doubt. CDN2PLS2, do you mean previously down the road from you, or now? We're in Aylmer.

Not sure if this is the right way to do this or not but, thinking of selling the car and could use some guidance on price. we're just not getting out in it at all and dad's mobility issues make it difficult. It's seen about 4000 miles total in the last 4ish years. The kijiji ad that dad bought it off of around 4 years was posted and discussed here. I think at that time it was listed at $4200 and the talk on the forum was $3500-3800 would be more realistic. I believe dad paid somewhere in that range. I'll look for the bill but I think it was $3500 as is. When he safetied it he put on new tires and exhaust for sure and I think new brakes but I'll double check. Since it's been in my care it's had a tune up, new water pump, thermostat and rad hoses, a fuel line and new carpets installed. A southern US rear passenger door has been obtained but not yet installed. The car is totally complete with all badges, knobs etc (plus some extra trim stripped from a Catalina). The am radio works but the clock doesn't. No cracks in the dash. The seats need recovering and the headliner replacing, package shelf should probably be replaced. Body work is still an issue with the door needing to be changed and the right rear quarter and trunk fill panel needing replacement. Very solid underneath.
What has the market been like? Is $4000 likely for a good, certified driver?
any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks
Mike
here's some pics. I guess whether any one can help with a value or not, they are still relevant to the thread. The worst rust is around the rear passenger door and under the rear window. It's been half assed patched to keep the rain and squirrels out but really needs to be done properly. the bottom of the passenger side door is a bit rough. Just surface rust in the trunk, no holes or soft spots. I have the interior panel for the passenger rear door and it's mint, just removed it in preparation for changing the door.
thanks
Mike

Yes, floors and frame are solid. When I had the carpet out it was in far better condition than the trunk floor, which is solid but a little rusty from water getting in under the window. If it gets to the point I do decide to sell and there is interest I'll get some pics while on a hoist.
Thanks
Mike
That rust around the lower rear window is a design flaw that carried over for many years. It led to leakage into the trunk and rusting out of the trunk flows.
Pity but many of these design flaws continue to this day.
