Vinyl roof questions

I was wondering if anyone knows for a supplier for vinyl roof material and trim. This is my 77 Lemans roof trim. At first I thought that it was not stock but I have since seen several photos of other Oshawa A bodies with the same thing. It looks like it was painted on the line with a roller.

I am making a couple patches out of bumper trim but if  I paint her next year I would like to do the roof and trim.

The US models and dealer installs seemed to have chrome trim and a thick trim over the roof.

This is the only picture I have of the roof of ours when it was new, probably taken in 1976 or 77. I don't know it is helps but it does not have the large thick piece you mention. It was an Oshawa car with a 350 Chevrolet. Pay no attention to the dual tailpipes biggrin , it seems the converter to mufflers 1976 454 Impala dual system fit under the LeMans.

custom Fit vinyl top in the original material $286.00.  The vinyl trim is not available. Check with your local Apple / Standard Auto glass shops or independents. A ton of tops were suppied by those shops. They may have some of that trim around

Thanks for the help guys. As usual this site is my go to place for parts and answers.

I am going to work on my patches today. I cut two pieces of bumper trim and am going to file them down to fit then use a dash repair kit to blend in and apply grain. Then I am going to paint the trim with brown Krylon plastic paint with a brush from spray bomb sprayed into cap.

I will post photos if it works out well!

Thanks for the PM and prices Dale. I will keep you in mind when I spring for a new roof.

I masked and put one coat of paint on the trim today. There is no doubt that the trim was painted with a roller. Two days ago I got a can of tan vinyl paint and painted a part of the trim the color that it was before the roller job. Live and learn...it looked like ****. I then looked at a pile of Malibu and Monte pic online and I could see that the plastic trim on the cars was always close to the body color and darker than the roof.

I looked at the original invoice and it show the C09 vinyl top option (factory installed) and my car was an April 77 car delivered on May 2 and there was a $240 deposit on it, suggesting an order sheet car. From some reading about production on the line at Oshawa maybe they were out of brown trim or they used tan trim on several colors...Mojave Tan...Buchskin..and my car Brentwood Brown.

Is there anyone in the forum who worked on the line in 77?

After closer examination I can see the rivets in the trunk so that leads me to believe that it was a dealer installed top...ie apple...standard. I might get my build sheet from GM in the future so then I will know for sure. It seems the stock tops had chrome trim?

I used JB Kwik Plastik epoxy putty to mold the fix for the corners and used a piece of fake leather to add grain. Painted the trim with brown Krylon plastic paint. I am pleased with the result....a lot better than the first pic.
