Hi all, wondering if someone can educate me on wiring up a lock-up converter on a TH350-C transmission, or advise whether I need to wire it up at all. I read contradicting info that you don't have to, but it could cause overheating of the transmission and loss of fuel economy. Not worried about the fuel economy.
The transmission is mounted to a 350 engine that is carburated. When I look at the car it came out of (which was not a factory install), it is hooked to a vacuum switch and I do not have the same setup in the Canso. There is a single wire coming out of the transmission on the drivers side.

I ran exactly this setup on my 65 Canso with a 427. I removed it all to do the 327 4 speed conversion. I'll check but I don't know if I kept the parts. I made my own little bracket for the brake pedal switch as mentioned, mounted the little 2 wire vacuum switch on the inner fender, wired in the power wire and all was good. Relatively easy. If I think of it I'll try to check for those pieces some evening soon.
I would wire it up. It almost feels like another shift when it locks up, it's kind of nice even if fuel mileage is not a worry.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been out of town. Thank you all for the great info. Glad to hear that if I don't hook it up initially it will not wreck the transmission. Trying to get the car ready to take it to the Radium BC car show on September 15th. Carl, let me know if you are able to track down the parts and are willing to let them go, ultimately I would like to use it. Just let me know what you want for them.
