I've got close to 3000 hours in the last 3 years into mine, time to get my ass back in gear on it. I took the summer off, but have been working 6 to 7 days a week, weekends in a hotrod shop !

Unsafe at any speed! Love the engine! I wonder how he has the cooling system and transmission rigged.

I'm thinking of the old Crown (or was it Kellison?) mid-engine V8 conversion for Corvairs. When I saw the Olds V8 powered Corvair you posted I couldn't help but think that the Olds engine is attached to a Toronado transaxle, the TH-475.
Last summer while walking around Davenport Road in Toronto I spotted this 1965 Corvair Corsa convertible. Glacier Gray, 140-horse 4-carb motor, 4-speed, factory 2-spoke simulated wood wheel, a few modifications to wheels / tires, exhaust & mirrors. The car had old 1970 style Ontario plates and a current registration sticker.
that is on my bucket list to do. i remember as a teenager seeing a corvair project in ottawa of a corvair with the 350 in the back seat. they say if you rotate the trans-axle forward then flip side to side you can bolt up a era correct block in the back seat. i do have a 409 block in the shop waiting for this.
back in 98 my old boss at a Honda dealer had a 87 Honda Prelude built with a 500 cu in Caddy Motor in the back. Looked 98% stock. Wheels an exhaust was a giveaway but most people just thought it was a lude. Ran a 12.80 with it. Then put a posi in it, took it for a test run. Got bad torque steer, car was oncoming, took ditch, hot farmers grate, flipped and rolled it. Car was on road 1 summer. Was a 2 yr build. Had a make shift roll bar. Saved both my bosses lives. End up with cuts, scrapes, bruises. Told the poh poh a deer ran out...wink, I have pics...one day if I find them Ill post.
The cars that 2drpost posted are owned by the same guy, Mel !
CDNGmfan, yes, they & mine have the Toronado/Eldorado THM425
Lefty, that red Vert is on this years ICBC calender, as well as it is in a previous Canadian Hotrods magazine
With the Crown conversion, the bellhousing is just bolted to the front of the Corvair trans, no need to flip anything.
There is a Crown Corvair in Kamloops F/S right now, $1000 (Kijiji)
I stated out with the 455 Olds, but went to the 396, but it will be a 427 when done
I hate to be a stickler, but the powerpack in the OPs post is mounted too low, bad suspension geometry. But I would like to see pics of the mounting system he built- I've built my mounts 3 times...
the two early models are something else. the Toro is a monster, there were many V8 kits and the are many conversions these days that are new . my nephew has a 62 Corvair wagon on a G body frame. I sold last April my Crown V8 mid engine vair. there is a V8 web site but it is down being upgraded
