i understand things are worth what people are willing to pay, but sometimes i just dont get it??? This piece will clearly go on a very high level resto, not if thats good or bad for the hobby..maybe a little of both
we'll see if someone actually bids it on it though!! There are alot of things in life i don't understand... a GM NOS alternator bolt went for something like $150 on ebay in the vintage 60s package, but once you use it, it becomes a $5 bolt, and is still availalbe from GM!
NOS 1970 2dr door weatherstrips sold for $1300 last week !!! NOS convertible fiber optics kit went for $3300 !!! Some guys live on a different planet where they are smothering in money... nice dream.

I just mailed a 25 dollar air cleaner wing nut to a guy with a 70 GSX. I happened to have the correct one that has 4 tiny little pin holes drilled evenly spaced around the centre hole. Apparently they were used only on cars built at a certain plant (I forget which one)
I saw the wanted ad on V8Buick.com and checked my stash. I told the guy it seemed a bit crazy to get $25 for a tiny little wing nut but he said it was worth it to him to have the correct piece, so.........

Thats a $100. air filter at the most, this person is way way out to lunch. There are plenty of NOS ones for sale out there for a hundred bucks.

So what size drill bit did you use?

It still boggles my mind on the cars that are drivers... Cars that are restored for a musuem, might be a good place for 100% original
but on a nice driver? who cares? Is the date on a alternator necessary? Its just my opinion so don't go nuts..
I like a car that "looks" original.. w/o red heater hose and ribbed rad hoses but really who is ignorant enough to crawl over and under someone cars for numbers?...
Just had to say it I don't like liver either or garlic

I wish I still had that thing here to show you how tiny those holes are. It's certainly a unique piece. I guess that is what separates the perfect show cars from the drivers.
My life on this earth is too short to worry about stuff like that, but I'm glad there is guys who do that. It's tons of fun looking at those cars but I don't ever want one.

It's a hobby for most, so I understand it if someone wants to be that detailed and is willing to pay to have that piece... But to pay a massive premium for the packaging really means you can never open and use the product on a car? Even though I'm not a numbers guy, I did buy a NOS P01 Beaumont hubcap in the box for fun....
Or seafood I have heard. It is an acquired adult taste I've been told.
I remember that also. Now I'm hungry ...
