1951 Pontiac Chieftian brake shoes and drums

I'm looking for front and rear brake shoes for my 1951 Pontiac Chieftain. The year models that will fit are 1949-1954 I have been able to find wheel cylinders and a master cylinder I just cant seem to find new front and rear brake shoes.

Your car is a canadian model?  49-52 has 2  brake model, 53-54 has other brake shoes. I'm mostly positive 49-54 does not got the same brake.

I don't know for US model.

When I bought my 52 it was advertised as a Chieftain, & I thought i was going to see a US Poncho but it was a Cdn. model. Owner said he always thought all Pontiacs were Chieftains so adv. it that way. Bought it anyway as you folks know!!!

I saw a set of two shoes, fronts I think, on eBay for about $50.  Shipping would be expensive, though.  I think the shoes would be available through NAPA, but the drums are a different question.  I have a 52 Fleetleader parts car and might be able to look at the drums when the snow goes, but I have no idea how to determine if they've been turned, overturned, etc.  Will keep you in mind as I start the serious dismantle in the Spring.  If I can be of help, I will be.  Dont want a lot of these 50's Ponchos sporting Mustang front ends for lack of brakes and drums. :)

I know my local bumper to bumper found me brake shoes and drums for my 54,seeing as they were the same as a 54 chevy car.Not sure if the same holds true for a 52 Pontiac to a 52 chevy. If you can dig up a raybestos number it helps them out quite a bit.

I think Chevys of the same years would be a cross match. If so check out "national, chevy association". I plan on using many of their parts on my chieftain .

With these old cars try and find OEM brake shoes because if you put in harder shoes that are designed to last longer they will be TOO hard for the drums, they need to softer.  One shoe is the leading shoe don't put them in backwards!
