No offense intended, but that interior is making my eyes bleed. Is that what it actually looks like or is it just the camera causing it?

I've always wanted one. But it's the same old story, no money and no space. Good luck with the sale.

Those GTA's were really quick with the 5.7. Just goes to show how tough the car market is right now. $6000 will only buy a good paint job and here is a complete car for the same price. Good luck with the sale.

Al - you got that right / I'm the 2nd owner of the GTA, quickest car I ever drove with superb traction, off the line...already at fire sale $$.

Once on the edge of city London, (Easter Rd, to be exact) a 5.0L mustang pulled up beside me at a red light, and we made eye contact with a nod.

Game on, traffic light went green, and we floored the gas...not even a contest.

- just seconds later he was viewing my rear bumper (happened so quick) and I continued to pull away until approaching next stop light

My buddy who restored a '67 Camaro (327-V8) said my Trans Am was the fastest car he ever rode in.

Now in 1987, the Vette motor ordered GTA was only 10% cheaper than a brand new Corvette

Probably had a sticker price similar to the Buick Grand National or GNX (but I'm not sure).

Today, look what the top dog old Buick brings, compared to this same year Pontiac.

- just sad, while I always knew there would be a big gap in $$...this car should be sold by now / got to thin out the herd

I also wonder if the GNX and GTA had same 16" rim design & back pair is wider wheels ??

- one in black & aluminum while the other in gold & aluminum...only changing center caps

Would be a shame to part this car out, but may have to...vehicle priced cheaper that the sum of the all good parts.

eBay Find: Absolutely Mint 1987 Buick GNX With 197 Miles

After 1987, the turbo six lived one more year in the 1989 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo, but its the GNX that is the king of the

1980s muscle cars. And the price shows it. For car #8 is currently going for $124,900 with 19 days left to sell.

I remember drooling over these new at the dealership, and was not impressed with the change in ground effects in 1991. This year and model were, and still are awesome. They were about $5k more than the already out of reach, for the 19 year old, 5.7 IROC, and probably not as loaded as this one. I was lucky enough to test drive and be talked out of buying a 350 IROC by a selfless GM salesman, who explained to me "You have the money to buy it, but might not have the money to enjoy it, and all the other things that go along with being 19".

IMHO the GTA was just slicker or more refined than the Camaro of the time. I'm really surprised that it isn't more collectible today, it would be a great car for a road trip. Hope it doesn't come to parting out, good luck with the sale.

Good stuff.

If money and space here were no object, I'd own one of those. I've liked them since they first came out.

In 1987 our GM rep showed up at the dealership with the first 350 GTA I'd ever seen. He tossed me the keys and I found out those things like to go 120 miles an hour real quick!

Thanks both Carl's - not dealing with more Kijiji flakes, is an added treat...some I couldn't resist, having email fun with.
- my car buddy said it was the fastest car he ever drove & he owned a 1967 Camaro with 327
- when I bought the used car in 1995, we test drove the L98 together / sharing the fun
- took the GTA out for a fast 30 minute spin & then dropped my buddy off at his house
- problem was, in the driveway all we could smell was the stench of burnt rubber bad
- so had to wait another 15 minutes for the rubber tires to cool off, before I returned the vehicle to the original owners place
Then proceeded to immediately close the purchase - but that first 30 minutes behind the wheel, was pure test pilot pleasure.
- new buyer was really stoked today (once viewing car), the glass top & e-test exempt were a nice bonus

Both buyer & seller, happy today...the way it should unfold.

- all I had was 19 year old photos of the car (blew motor in 1996, 2nd summer)

- car still looked the very same today, 19 years later...fully insulated storage w/windows up, was good on car...interior still mint

Today at Plunkett's 2015 Firebird/Trans Am car show:

I reunited the original owner of this GTA and her father, with new owner #3.
We all talked at great length, and it was a pleasant surprise, for him.
