I thought if I started a build thread it might entice me to work on my own car a bit more often. I bought this car a few years ago from down in the Settler area.
My plan is to dismantle the car completely so I can set the body up on my rotisserie. I'm changing to a 2" cowl hood, doors were dented and rusted but I managed to find a set of complete doors that are next to perfect.
Doors, fenders, hood, rad support and deck lid off. Front fenders are NOS that were put on and not painted, they had a few dents which I have repaired.
As you can see the cars interior was pretty much stripped so I've had to track down a lot of parts for the inside. I bought this set of buckets, consul, shifter and a few other odds and ends from a very good hearted member down in Calgary.
Front sub-frame is off and the car is pretty much stripped except the diff. It's time to dig the rotisserie out of the storage shed. There is a fair bit of rust in the floor so I think I might put a complete floor in, I already have the pan for the trunk. I am also replacing the quarters and the panel between the rear window and the trunk lid.
Kris and I went out after supper and set up the rotisserie. I bought a Auto Twirler II a few years ago, and this will be the first project on it. I need to fab up a few brackets in order to get the car hooked up. Does everyone remember the ultra rare 67 Cansomino I brought home, well it will be a parts car for the 66.
'64 Parisienne CS "barn find" - last on the road in '86 ... Owner Protection Plan booklet, original paint, original near-mint aqua interior, original aqua GM floor mats, original 283, factory posi, and original rust.
Good luck on restoring your car, I'm glad it's getting done. I am interested in your build thread seeing that our cars are siblings. Mine is one day older with the same drive train, interior, and exterior colour. Mine is not restored to original so it will be neat to see yours come to life. I will leave you with a picture for inspiration.
I've got a pretty healthy 406ci with a 700R4, 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 gears. The front end has a CPP Mini Sub frame kit in it with drop spindles and front disc brakes. If your going aftermarket on the front sub-frame check out Church Boy's racing. You can add a rack and pinion on later with their kit.
Well, I built brackets and bolted the rotisserie up to the front of the body. Today we pulled off the rear bumper brackets, diff and springs. Now I just need to fab up a couple brackets for the rear and the body will be spinning like a chicken.
I ordered a complete floor pan with floor shift as well as pieces for the trunk, all the parts are from Classic Industries. I figured out the rotisserie mounts for the rear of the car just need to weld them up.
I bought these heads a couple years back and would like to use them for this project. I have a few 350 4 bolt blocks so I'm thinking along the line of 383 stroker. The heads are from a 69 Camaro Z28 302 cid engine but have had extensive work done to them. My question is, they have hardened seats which I'm told with today's fuel are not the best if using the car a lot. Can or should I change the seats....pardon my ignorance, I'm a body man not an automotive mechanic. I guess these heads 186 are rare and could be used by someone restoring a Z28 but if that fella doesn't come along before engine build time they will be going on the Acadian engine.
