"Matching #'s 427 car". Really? GM didn't put 427's in the Chevy II/Acadian in '68. It was the first year for the 396 for that year in the "X" body and Fred Gibb's had ordered most of them(automatics-69)-No? I can't see if the heater hoses go behind the valve covers or into the heater box itself.Dead give away of a made up big block car that most people over look.

There was never a big block Acadian any year. I am guessing his statement about matching numbers must mean all the stuff on the engine belongs together.

The ad doesn't actually state "numbers matching". It does say "GM documented" which does (mis)lead you to think that it's the original drivetrain:

My car is also "GM documented".

I should have read the ad. I saw the heading with matching numbers and assumed he was claiming matching numbers.

Cool car. I believe it was for sale in Alberta a few years back. 68 Acadian SS should have the "A" in the grille. Rear panel SS trim is also incorrect for 68 Acadian. Nice car either way with some cool options.

Well since I got back I was able to start going thru all my stuff that I left in NJ before I went to Hell (AZ).Anyway I found the pictures of the car from Canada, shows the liscense plate, maybe somebody with Canadian access can run it.68 Nova is definitly a Acadian 68 Nova SS 4spd with blue bucket seat interior, factory console and factory tach.Front grill is diferent then the US counterpart..does have the BB heater core, but the factory tach redline looks to be at 5000,not 5500 for a 396/350hp.Does show the 427 sticker on the BB chrome aircleaner.Car has ralleys and is real clean! Dan
I just noticed the 68 bucket seats have head rest, gotta check, but all the 68 Nova buckets I've seen don't have headrest. They are the correct 68 Nova buckets, button to push top portion of seat forward is correct,69 and up Nova buckets had button in top back of seat.Wonder if this was available in Canada only?? Tim,elaborate on what you found...Dan
Tim,I don't know, found it on a web site about 3 years ago for sale, but never kept the phone number, should of cause now I would love to find out more about the car. These black and white pictures dosen't do the car justice, I have the color pictures, very clean,oh well....Dan
The cars from canada with big blocks did not say turbo jet on the air cleaner. There was some other name for it. I know the small block said astro flash on the air cleaner but I can't think of the one for the big block.
I have a friend whose interested in this car but told him I'd check the documentation before spending that kind of money. It looks to be a very nice job but I think it's been built by the owner. In addition to the Nova SS grille emblem & rear panel it's got a Chev horn button and Chev rally wheels. Acadians didn't identify engine size in the front marker bezels. The head rests were optional but you could not get tilt steering in 1968 Novas or Acadians so I'm guessing this one came from a Camaro. Unlike Novas the only SS badging on '68 Acadians was on the horn shroud and the lower fender Super Sport name plates unless it was ordered with full wheel covers then it shared the Nova SS centers. The SS was an option not a model so there's no way to tell if it's real without the GM historical sheet. I see it's got disc brakes which in 1968 would be the 4 piston style. The VIN will start with 71427 if it's an original 8 cylinder car.
It would be really interesting to see the GM historical on this one.

Air cleaner decals, the Pontiac/Beaumont ones are readily available and would have added to the ruse better. This crossed flag Chevy decal has no place on an Acadian. That's easily fixed as is the Chevy horn button and we all know how near impossible it is to find a proper 1968 427 V emblem for Pontiacs so his use of a Chevy part is the next best alternative. It's a nice job and probably scares the H out of anyone who drives it.

I "hear" the owner was bragging about racing and beating a 454 Lemans (prototype) could be a rumour
