454 flash long since gone over time. Surprised it did not get parted out. Car looks rougher than what it is in the pictures. Sat close to 25 years in an old lean to, but at least BC.
It did duty on what they called back then, freeway patrol out side Vancouver, taken out of service back in 1977/78 around the 60k miles. She sure sounds saucy when running, like she's mad at the world lol
I bet there were a few guys back then, surprised they could not out run it, with it's long legs
This old girl so reminds me of the 73 Caprice coupe I had back in early 80's. it was a full load royal blue with blue interior "family cruiser" I wish I had some pics of it. This Family cruiser had Hasler headers, cower cam, eldebrock intake, 800 Holley, accel ignition and some pretty chrome 5 spoke mags and with factory air shocks. that Monster hooked extremely well given the tonnage and pulled hard. Many a camaro and Trans Am were surprised by it. Loooonnnggg legs on her, the 120 MPH speedo took a long time for it to drop and register again. Sure miss that rush....
I LIKE IT!!!!!!!. What are your plans for it? Please say it is staying as a stock, original, low milege, survivor, rare, special cop car. Good luck with her. Cheers. George.

If that was the Vancouver freeway patrol, I'll bet that car was delivered through Dennison Chev Olds while I worked there. I bought one of the trades, a 72 Biscayne with a 454. It was the only Chevy. The rest were Dodges and Plymouths. That Car would pull like train on the freeway. I bought it to tow with, but sold it after a few months. It was all black. Sadly, no photos.
My friend's dad used to always buy Chevy Biscaynes new with h.d. equipment. His '67 Biscayne had a six, but it also had a h.d. clutch, Z04 H.D. Chassis Equipment (12-bolt rear, F40 suspension & front stablizer bar). In 1973 he decided he wanted a car to tow a travel trailer so he special ordered a 1973 B02 Biscayne police car. It had the 140 mph speedo, an LS4 454 interceptor, front & rear stabilizer bars, big alternator, stiff springs & shocks, Positraction, J55 H.D. Brakes, plus he also ordered 3.42:1 rear gears. He also went with a/c and even went for the Comfortron automatic a/c. It was funny, the old guy looked frail and was an accountant, but he added a row of guages across the top of the dash. The car had blackwalls with small dog dish hubcaps, and he even went for the big bumper guards and rub strips. It was an amusing car that had balls despite being a 1973 smogger. It got 10 mpg always, whether in town, on the highway, or towing a 17 foot house trailer. Linus (the original owner) always oil sprayed the car twice a year and brush painted when touch ups were required. It was a very solid car that ended up being raped for the 454 around 1995. Bloody shame if you ask me. Below is a picture I created to depict exactly what it looked like when new:

We are talking FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR CUBIC INCHES OF RAW TORQUE here. It doesn't matter if it is a 1970 or a 1985 version these baby's had balls, enough to scare the crap outta most mere mortals and surely enough to petrify someone driving a 454 in their dreams or for the first time. As Todd said MUUHHHWAAAAHHHWAAAAAAAAAAAAA as you feel like the hood is getting sucked in and when this thing kicked out of passing gear at 80 is was just getting ready to roll, pulling H A R D on its way to 140.
I took this photo in 1975 in Cawston BC at our legal highway drag strip. The Biscayne police car had a 454 in it. We couldn't convince him to make a run....

agreed - I had a 73 Corvette Convertible 454/275 hp - 395 FT/LBS torque -- 336 rear, 400 auto - turned 13:91 @ 102MPH 1/4 miles (that was a 3900LB car ! ) and I had the car doing 125 - 130 MPH several times (scarey to try much faster in an old car - it had more in it though) Smog - ya right

Yup I have no doubt whatsoever Ken. There is an on ramp to the Gardiner Expressway near Bay Street in Toronto. The Gardiner is an elevated expressway and this on ramp has a stop light near the bottom, the ramp is inclined about 30 degrees, Starting from a stop at the light I was able to hit 115 before reaching the end of this acceleration ramp in my 73 LeMans 454, 2.73 axle ratio. Think about the pulling power there, its a 30 degree incline, normal length say 1/4 mile + a bit, you start from a stop and before you hit the level pavement you're seeing 115 on the speedo.
