Now i am hearing that our old engines do not really need any zinc additive. That unless you drive your engine hard, you do not have to worry. Who knows what to believe any more. I have also had hardened valve seats put in a number of old motors in the past and my engine rebuilding buddies tell me that it was a waste of money. That only extreme usage requires these old engines to have zinc additives or hardened valve seats. I personally would rather be safe than sorry and do not regret having the extra peace of mind. I have used zinc additives in my 57 261 six but i am never consistent with it. Cheers. George.

One of our techs at works swears by it (GM's EOS) He uses a bottle of it every other oil change.
His old beater 305 pickup he drives to work had over 700,000 kilometers on it when it finally blew up, and it was coolant related, not oil. He had a big cloud of steam and coolant everywhere. The rotating assembly was still all working fine.

So he can't prove the oil additive worked right ?
I have used tons of "snake oil products" and come to the conclusion, that most cars would run just as long, without them
e.g. using a additive for fuel mileage maybe 10.00 to save 6.00
and 10.00 is important in Ontario when we seniors have to sell blood to pay bills lol
If Jay Leno says it's good (he probably gets a healthy endorsement paycheque or owns part of the company) it must be good. You could buy another zinc additive for a lot cheaper. Save your money.
What happened to Zmax commercials since Carroll Shelby died?

I feel Jay is trying to do the right thing but your right (Pontiacanada) it is buyer beware, lots of promises and fixes in bottles.
I know of couple shops that use this brand in fleet and heavy truck, dont know if i ever would.I run Valvoline VR-1 and forget it.
The Z-Max brand is still advertised on speed channel but dont know how much of a dent its made with actual claims with helping wear etc.
Lots of options just out there, this one more.
Good race shops and engine builders are the ones i gravitate to, the cruise night experts well.....
