Single exhaust is good! Less parts to replace.smile Been a while since I worked on the car, but had to get outside stuff done for winter. Now that the days are getting shorter I can spend more time in the garage.w00t.gif Got my new fender louvers so I thought I would try to drill 38 holes without mucking it up! As most of you know you can't drill a hole in sheet metal without the drill wanting to walk all over, so I made a template out of 3/16 aluminum. Took alot of measuring and double checking but I think I got it as close to stock as you can. Drilled the first 2 holes in fender , then screwed template to fender and clamped back of template to fender making sure that it was parallel to center body line. To do the right side I`ll just flip it over.smile If anyone wants to borrow my template just pay for the mail (both ways). Progress pics

As always, Jim, well thought out. Will you be okay with just 36 holes though, or did you pay for the extra? Looking good.

Finished off the louvers on the other fender then it was time to tackle the V8 emblems which I have no measurement for. I blew up the pic from the orig sale brochure then measured the size of emblem and then distance from emblem to center of fender on pic. Think it's close. 40 holes so far and still have belt line trim to do.no.gif Looking so shiny I might not need paint.biggrin

Well, think the whole front end is ready for final prime then wet sand and paint. Drilled 28 more holes in my trunk. This is what happens when you put Chevy ll parts on an Acadian!!Think I'll be able to read a tape in my sleep!! Still have to drill 1/4 panels for beltline, Canso and Sd emblems. Would be pricy to rechrome everything at once, so I'm going to clean up the easy stuff that's removable and do it a bit at a time down the road. Cleaned up and repainted the trunk ACADIAN inserts. Thinking I might ask my wife for a gallon of Aztec Bronze for under the Christmas tree.smile

Took the week off so I could pound on the car, want to be ready for paint by end of Nov. Front end/trunk final prime done (hood is good), have new door hinges so I can line up sheet metal. Poor old Belair is outside for the night. Kinda backwards but I need to get the Canso done so I have time to build the shop.hmm

Thanks Jim, well got a lot more accomplished this week although it might not look like it. Drilled 22 more holes!!!!!!! Wind splitter,Acadian emblem, pass side mirror etc! Sand blasted all the door mounting bolts, cleaned door latches, strikers and put on the whole front end to line everything up. Thought the hood was good but once I sanded the 10 years of dust and dirt off I wasn't happy with it, sooo putty, board and prime. Wanted to be on the safe side so I decided to wet sand/block the whole front end with 320. Just roof and 1/4's left!

DSC05957.JPG DSC05958.JPG

Made up a mirror bracket for reinforcement, didn't want to weld in place and chance warping door. So I epoxied it in.

Well, onto 1/4's and roof. Ran into a bit of a bug on the hood, kept getting high spots on it when I thought it was all good? Figured out it was being created by setting it on the stand, the inner skin was pushing up on the outer, so when working on a hood make sure it is supported on the outside reinforced edge. Got the car moved back over to the dirty bay and masked her right down to the floor. Don't want primer overspray all over my nice clean undercarriage and motor! Also threw a sheet over the dash for extra protection. Can't wait till paint!

Problem                                                                                                                                           Fix
